52 years ago (1973) the movie "American Graffiti" came out to the public.
No one had ever heard of George Lucas and his childhood love for race cars.
This movie had young movie stars all in it w/ Harrison Ford nobody knew of.

Speaking of NOLA, @Orange. , have you seen this week’s helmet? I appreciate the street tiles and the beads, but I personally don’t find it attractive.

Thank you. I’d not seen it. I agree with you. But I like the street tiles and beads enough to like it. Let’s roll.

Knocking Memphis out of the playoffs made this year.

Have you been to Emeril’s new Portuguese restaurant? I want to go. A lot of the non New Orleans classics focused places are also incredibly good. I really love Tulane. The last time we went to NOLA we went to a play on campus (Molière), staged right beside Newcomb, where most of my classes were. Stirred up some happy memories. Building the on campus stadium was a great idea.

No, but we went to his original restaurant about twenty something years ago before he was known outside of New Orleans.

We ate at what he called the degustation bar. It’s seated eight, and looked straight into the kitchen. They would prepare food just for the people at the degustation bar, most of it was not on the menu and they were looking for feedback. It was great, and it was pure dumb luck that somebody told me about it. Also, he was two-faced: he would yell at his staff like a drill sergeant, turn 180° and transform into a smiling good guy for the customers.

My favorite is Commander’s Palace. Have you ever eaten at Commander’s? On Netflix there’s a documentary about the Brennan family and includes video of what Katrina did to the restaurant. One year for our anniversary, my wife sweet talked them out of a Commander‘s Palace chef’s jacket for me.

Awesome story about the degustation bar. Sorry I missed that. Not shocked at the behavior. There is a certain type of person who is impressed by that kind of thing, sadly. Or who thinks it impresses others. Or who is lacking in self restraint and sense enough to see that people put two and two together. My sister has a house near him somewhere out of town and he’s always been very friendly with them. She thinks it’s because she’s always acted as if she didn’t know who he is. 😂

Commander’s is our favorite too. I scored major points making reservations there for my wife’s birthday when we were dating. I have a photo of that day on my desk. We took my out-of-town son there this past summer for his first trip.

I am blown away by the Commander’s chef’s jacket! What a prize and what a prize wife to think of that! I’ll have to watch that documentary.
