OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

He freaked out when he was younger and played catcher, he hated it!
When I asked him why he said he was afraid of getting hit in “the junk”😁
I got him a cup and he was like a different player!!
🤷‍♂️
My son attended a baseball at Tennessee. Coach Raleigh came out to check on the catchers. My son was the youngest one out there, had just gotten nailed in the ribs doing a drill. Coach went over to check on him, he was tearing up, but told him to leave him alone so he could finish the drill.

Coach Raleigh walked away. As he passed by me he looked at me and said, "there has to be something wrong with a kid that will sit there and let someone throw a 90 mph baseball at them. Catchers are not right in the head".

This is a guy you want coaching your players.

Barbenheimer was one of the most unlikely heroes this country has ever seen. Nearly $2.5B in combined box office gross.
Wifey didn't like "Barb," was disappointed, and thought it a missed opportunity. I thought it was basically a nothingburger. There were a few little details that I was interested in. The saturated colors, for example. For some reason, I kept thinking about "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort" (1967) while watching "Babs." Not with respect to the plot, but the "look and feel." One day I'll rewatch "Demoiselles."

We both loved "Oppenheimer" and even went to see it second time. Not the last time I will see it.
