OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

So how invested is everyone in our men’s bb team?
Me: Very
I’ve always cared about all of our sport teams but never followed basketball on the level I have our fb team or most recently, our beloved BaseVols. I’ve found myself watching other games and keeping up with other teams to gauge the Vols standings.
I think eyes will be on us this weekend, particularly those of the other top 3 teams in SEC. They’d love nothing more than an upset due to their own recent embarrassing losses. Better take care of business Saturday.
Vanderbilt won the last matchup in Nashville last season but prior to that we had won 11 straight against them. I am expecting a 20+ point beatdown. We own them in all the major sports 😎

WTOB Haven't asked you in a while, How is your wife doing now ?
She was sent back to the hospital (Tuesday) for observation. She's not talking.
She hasn't been talking for weeks. Nurses at the health care were getting concerned
w/her no communication skills. I was there (hospital) yesterday & they told me she was
checked for Covid & she may have that now. She's still on a feeding tube through the
stomach only. I see no progress made w/her in verbal skills or physical skills. And of course she's not strong enough to get up & walk. She's bed bound 24/7.

I had also been wondering how your wife is doing and am very sorry to hear that the situation hasn't improved. She has my best wishes for recovery and I hope you are doing ok in this challenging time.

Thanks for your kind words. If you (all of you) don't have health insurance you best go sign up for some bc you'll be using it sooner or later.

Prayer .... it's the only path forward now. Doctors don't seem to help.
All they know to do is run more tests to figure out why she's not talking.
Oh, and thanks very much for those prayers.
Stay strong man. I know we joke a lot around here, but we do care.

My wife just got word yesterday that her mother is starting to transition. She has dementia and it has been a long time coming. The siblings made a visit right before Christmas and had their closure then. Her passing will be more of relief at this point, because it has gotten so bad.

Very sorry to hear about that halph, I’m sure it has been very difficult. I appreciate your view on this that it is better for her to move on than to have to continue to suffer.

It's hard to initially to come to grips with, but I have watched my wife and have been amazed with her strength. She has set with her mother many times and told her that it was okay to let go.

Dementia is so tough on the loved ones. I'm not certain that that is true for the patient. The care givers at her home are absolute saints. She transitioned to Hospice several months ago and those folks are to be commended.
