  • 1956 - The A.L. says it will test the automatic intentional walk during spring training.

  • 1958 - The Hall of Fame fails to enshrine any new members for the first time since 1950.

  • 1960 - The BBWAA voters fail to elect a new Hall of Fame member. Edd Roush gets 146 votes, but 202 are necessary for election. Sam Rice (143) and Eppa Rixey (142) are next in line.

  • 1969 - Attorney Bowie Kuhn, a compromise choice for Commissioner of Baseball, is elected on a pro-tem basis.

  • 1976 - Federal Judge John W. Oliver upholds Peter Seitz's decision in the Andy Messersmithfree-agency case.

  • 1990 - The St. Petersburg Pelicans get home runs from Lamar Johnson and Steve Kemp and rout the West Palm Beach Tropics, 12-4, to win the first-ever championship of the Senior Professional Baseball Association.

The way it works is each week you pick a team. If that team goes .500 or better, you survive to the following week. Aren’t allowed to use any team more than once.

It's been 40 years ago today since this Angel (Karen) was taken from us & back to Heaven ...
When the Carpenters came on the music scene in 1970 they have been nothing but Super Stars. Since Karen passed away 2/4/83, I've missed her & her lovely golden voice all these years.

No, she’s not into posting on message boards lol. But she did wear a Tennessee hoodie and likes the Vols a lot so she’s good in my book. I’m just shocked at how I managed to fall into this 😂
