One thing I know for certain is that if the Braves play the Cards I do not like my Braves chances. The Cards have some kind of spell on us whenever it comes to the postseason. I’m still upset over that bogus “infield fly” the umps called in the Wildcard awhile back. We also had the better team in 2019 and had no business losing to them. Bad things usually happen whenever the Braves play them in the playoffs. You expecting some Pujols magic Cobb? I’m sure hoping for some.

Yeah, I’m not sure what the umps were thinking on that infield fly….Cards got a huge break. Yeah, Braves had some magic going last year on that run. I hope we get some magic this year with Yadi and Albert going out, but I doubt it.Maybe this year’s Braves team will have an unlimited supply of White Magic to fight against the Dark Magic. I fear we may have used up all of it last postseason though![]()
Outside of the Braves, the Cards are the most likable team on the NL side imo. I’m used to rooting against the Cards but if y’all happen to make it past us I will have no other choice than to root for you against the Dodgers/Mets. I’m hoping the Mariners make a magical run on the AL side. That fanbase deserves it more than anyone.Yeah, I’m not sure what the umps were thinking on that infield fly….Cards got a huge break. Who really knows what will happen? I’ll be for the Braves if the Redbirds don’t make. Seattle is more than due for some magic.Outside of the Braves, the Cards are the most likable team on the NL side imo. Pujols‘ post season magic multiplies that curse. One thing I know for certain is that if the Braves play the Cards I do not like my Braves chances. Half agree. If you win your division after 162 games, you shouldn’t have to match off with 3 wild card teams. These are all really great matchups the more I look at it. I can’t believe it took MLB this long to change to this format. This is what everyone wanted the WC Round to look like from the beginning. 1 game playoffs never made since after playing a 162 game season. 3 games is plenty fair for this round. Should be a great weekend of baseball.
Whenever you have the Pirates, Reds, and Cubs in your division I don’t really feel bad about you being in the wildcard round. They won as many divisional games as the Braves did, yet the Braves had to compete with 2 other playoff teams within their division. Cardinals can blame themselves for not destroying that division better than they did.Half agree. If you win your division after 162 games, you shouldn’t have to match off with 3 wild card teams.
If they had to travel then that would push back the playoff schedule even more so. That’s why they did away with Game 163 as a tiebreaker. They would have to set aside another day off in the schedule just in case. They had to do it this way out of necessity.Seems odd that they won’t be splitting the venues in this round.
Somebody just crown me World Series champ and get it over with.Talk about adding insult to injury. Mets and Braves end up tied with 101 wins apiece and they no longer do Game 163 for a tiebreaker. Mets fans have to be in full meltdown mode right now. Except for @cobbwebb0710 since that’s only 1 of his 12 teams in the hunt![]()

On October 6 in Baseball History...
- 1957 - With the score tied at 5-5, Eddie Mathews of the Braves evens the World Series with a two-run home run in the bottom of the tenth to end Game Four. In the Series' first famous "shoeblack incident," pinch-hitter Nippy Jones convinces umpire Augie Donatelli that Tommy Byrne's pitch hit him on the foot.
