Appreciate it! You are a lot closer to Pesqueria and Larado than us TN gringos! :cool:... I am not really in a hurry, don't drive that much anymore (prob 3000 mi/yr) but my 20 year old diesel has about 400k miles and StarBearette won't even ride with me without a fight.

That's one reason we hate the Yankees & Dodgers. Always going after other teams stars.
They'll out bid the other teams for them too just to have the best lineup in MLB. They (Yankees & Dodgers) do not want having to face stiff competition in playing for titles and championships.

Yankees/Dodgers will always be at or near the top in payroll. Mets are actually up there this season and it is paying off for them in the wins column.

  • 1875 - Philadelphia's Joe Borden, also known by the name Josephs, pitches the first no-hitter in Major League history, beating the Chicago White Stockings 4-0. The game takes one hour and 35 minutes to play.

  • 1931 - Bob Fothergill of Chicago hit a home run and a triple in an 11-run eighth inning as the White Sox beat the New York Yankees 14-12.

  • 1952 - Rogers Hornsby, after being fired by the St. Louis Browns, replaces another former Brownies manager, Luke Sewell, as manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

  • 1971 - Sixteen-time Gold Glove winner Brooks Robinson committed three errors in the sixth inning against the Oakland A's. Frank Robinson's three-run homer in the ninth won the game for the Orioles.

  • 1976 - Blue Moon Odom (five innings) and Francisco Barrios (four innings) combined on a no-hitter as the Chicago White Sox beat Oakland 2-1.

  • 1979 - Dave Kingman of the Chicago Cubs hit three home runs in a game for the second time in the season and became the sixth player in Major League history to accomplish the feat. Kingman's homers weren't enough as the Cubs lost to the New York Mets 6-4.

27 consecutive decisions lost is crazy to imagine. That streak started May 6, 1992. He went an entire calendar year without picking up a win. Looking at his stats, he was a combined 3-30 from 1992-1993. Crazy thing is that he had a career 3.89 ERA so he wasn’t that bad of a pitcher. Mets always Mets 🤣

Basically, MLB is structured so the small market teams exist to develop talent for the big market teams. The competitive balance is a sick joke. I hate that I get sucked into watching MLB every year.
