OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I took 12 weeks off and don’t regret it a bit. My dad was around but was always “too tired” or “too busy” for us and we were told not to bother him. Before you knew it, me and my sister were off to college without even a memory of him saying that he loved us. Work will replace you in a day, but your family can never replace you.
Well said my friend.

Looks like algebra with some chemistry mixed in.
It’s showing that Oakland has done more with less payroll. Atlanta and St Louis have been the most overall consistently good teams relative to payroll, as they have essentially the same winning % as the Dodgers and Red Sox, even though those teams have had much higher payrolls. The Yankees are on another planet, mostly due to their absurd success in the late 90s and early 2000s.

You can say that again.

What does that mean? He got all the outs ?

That means everything was unassisted that game. It could have been a combination of strikeouts, fly outs, groundouts to an infielder and that infielder touches a base for a force out. Anything in which they didn’t have to throw the ball to another player to get the out. Think of basketball where the player that passes the ball to a player that scores gets an assist for the basket. You assisted that player in scoring a basket. In baseball, you assisted the receiving player in getting an out.

In my local paper today: Georgia's football coach Kirby Smart gets a 10-year extension through the year 2031 a 10 year agreement that's worth more than $110 Million. His Base Salary for this year (2022) will be $10.25 Million. And Smart will receive raises each season for the football HC job. Looks like Kirby strikes gold in recruits football jock straps for the foreseeable future.

LMAO did you guys hear the interview that Ron Slay did with coach Heupel yesterday on the Nashville station? It was a classic!

Ron Slay- you have 2 minutes on the clock, starting at your own 10 yard line, down 6 with the national championship on the line. You look to your sideline and see a young Heupel or Hendon Hooker, which quarterback are you rolling with?

Coach Heupel- Hendon, no question.

Ron Slay- why?

Coach Heupel- he has a better coach!!!

Ron Slay loved it, he said to shut it down, the Heup train is leaving the boom boom room!
😂
Well played coach, well played!
