I don’t ever remember so many(if any) MLB players, going on “paternity leave?!”
🤷‍♂️
We’re living in different times. Used to a guy would fly home after a game, see his wife give birth and then fly back to finish a series.
Now they let guys take leave.
I took two weeks off from work whenever my son was born. Had to use paid time off but it was something I wanted to do. I don’t regret it one bit. I told myself that I was going to be the best father I could be because my father never really showed us any love. Those first few weeks are critical for baby-parent bonding also.

LOL ...what wussies. My twin boys were born on a Sunday. I took Monday off. Went back to work on Tuesday. When I was at work the in-laws took over. They were happy.

Whenever you have a father that wasn’t in your life, you think about fatherhood a little differently.

My daddy passed away when I was only 10 yo. I know what you're talking about. Didn't really show love to us either. Never came to a ball game or anything .... I guess he was too busy working & on the road to put food on the table & pay those damn bills.

I’m the total opposite. My dad raised me and did the best he could. The man worked 2 jobs(1st and 3rd shift) and never missed a ballgame or school function.
I have more respect for that man than I could ever begin to tell him!
I haven’t spoken to my mom in years!
My stepmother and mother in law have been more of a mother to me than my own mom ever was!!

And a huge reason why I have the same respect for my wife! I couldn’t ask for a better mom for our kids...but Lawd that woman gets on my nerves sometimes!!😂

Just a shout out to you for sending the signed ball to my son. It got here yesterday and he was thrilled. Its folks like you and others here that often restore my hope for humanity. Be blessed and have a great rest of the day.
