Had to sit in on another prof's class today for a teaching evaluation. So, got to experience life on the other side of the podium, which is always eye opening. Everyone brings a computer to class these days, but now I know this is for different reasons. There were a couple of dudes playing solitaire (?) throughout the entire class and one girl watching movie/tv the whole time with ear buds in and everything. What's the point of even going to class then?

Did you find the lecture as boring as the kids obviously did?

I remember writing down on paper everything that was said by my professor(s).
That doesn't mean I passed w/flying colors on the subject at hand. But, I gave it a good shot.

It's a little different these days as most profs teach using slides and provide electronic copies to students. The upside is that students don't have to spend the majority of time trying to keep up with writing down everything that is taught, which was a common complaint in the old days, and have more time to think. The downside is that this way is more prone to students zoning out.

When I was around 2 or 3, my dad had to take me to UT and during one of his classes I wouldn’t stay quiet. The only thing that would shut me up, spoonfuls of peanut butter.
