My niece has her heart set on Tulane, she’s on the wait list. Either of you have any suggestions?
As frustrating as it may be, pretty nearly the only thing to do on a waiting list is... to wait. But that's a pretty good (if not ideal) sign for her, I would think. It's pretty competitive, and she's in the mix. I hope she has some backup plans, on priniciple, not because I think she won't get in. That's always wise. Is she applying as a new undergraduate, a transfer, or grad student? I don't think regular (non-early decision) undergrad acceptances are announced until April 1. Is this your niece at Northeastern? Your niece that played high school soccer? If she doesn't make it this year, remind her she can reapply for next year, probably best as a transfer and not take a year off. I applied as a grad student, and things are a little different for us. I knew the exact faculty member I wanted to study with and had been to Tulane to meet her. And the same at most of the other schools I had applied too.

Has she heard of a letter of continued interest ? I think that’s what it’s called. It lets the school know that you are still interested in them

Also, do they have a second period of early decision? You have to be careful with that one, financially. You basically sign in blood that if they accept you, you will go there. You might not know your actual cost of tuition when you do early decision, however.

@MAD i’ll also add that they taken into account what’s called “demonstrated interest.” For example, has she visited the school for a tour?

Dayum! Were you expecting a Penthouse Forum article? 😉🤣
If he traded (stole and dispensed) school money for a favor, that’s a crime I would think. Looks like they want to reward him with a fat early retirement, shield him from criminal penalties, stifle the Ohio taxpayers’ right to know, and pretend it never happened. Even crimes against themselves if that is embezzlement or some equivalent.

Also, they didn’t say what kind of “inappropriate” “relations?” Did they cheat at cards and swindle an innocent? That would be “inappropriate.” How are we supposed to do the math if we don’t know how much money he gave her for how many instances of unnamed inappropriateness. Did she wash his car? Is that it? Did he falsify a recommendation for her? How long has this been going on? How and when did the university find out about it?
