I just went down a rabbit hole on the 1951 Vols Baseball team. Most of you already know all of this, I would imagine. It's mostly for fans like me who don't yet know all of our baseball history.

General Neyland (who had a nice year himself in 1951) threw out the first pitch for the Vols baseball opener in the 1951 CWS. This photo is categorized as unknown situation, but it looks to me like Chicago, where the BaseVols stopped en route to Omaha -- and caught a game featuring Mickey Mantle vs Joe DiMaggio.

The late Herky Payne was one of my baseball coaches growing up.

He played for General Neyland, winning the national championship in 1951, and led the SEC in scoring.

Herky Payne, a two-sport standout for the Volunteers in the early 1950s, passed away Tuesday in Knoxville.

Actually it's light from 2.5 million years ago. This Hubble picture was just a snippet of this galaxy that's actually 150K light years in diameter. That's about twice as large as our Milky Way galaxy

My daughter is getting married this weekend, big wedding, 200 people coming from all over. The venue contacted my future son-in-law last night. The venue is in financial trouble and shutting down. I can’t believe it. They are scrambling trying to make alternative arrangements. Fortunately they took out insurance.
