OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

They will still be the Chicago Bears just like the Jets and Giants are still New York teams, even though they actually play in New Jersey. It's just a suburb of Chicago.
Chicago politicians got too greedy. No telling what kind of under the table money they were asking for, and what all else. The Bears wanted to be by the lake in Chicago, was my understanding, but could never get an agreement. I could be wrong.

A little background. I am in the insurance claim business and primarily focus on commercial truck losses.

I used to stand up for truck drivers as I knew most of the accidents are caused by private autos and their drivers doing insane stuff.

The last few years, this statement remains still largely accurate, BUT- there's a flood new truck drivers (a ton being foreign born) that are not helping the situation and are causing some serious accidents and no amount of new lanes or roads are going to fix this situation

I am not sure what happened in this accident. I don't think Mr. Rucker was killed by a tractor-trailer. It sounds like he was hit from behind by one of the extra-large pickups that we see zooming around local roads at high rates of speeds by "compensating" male drivers. In that area of interstate, a lot of these testosterones filled midgets violently race down the road, making unsafe lane changes to save 1 second of travel time.

I guess there's a chance this was a normal 1-ton pickup driven by a contractor, but I suspect it was an ******* looking over his left shoulder to make a fast lane change more than he was looking ahead.
I got rear ended less than a mile from there about a year and a half ago. Those accidents happen almost daily, it’s just nuts. In mine some tool in a beast of an SUV was zipping along at highway speed and then whipped a lane to the right at the last second to avoid stopped traffic. The guy behind him was suddenly confronted with a not moving car he couldn’t even see til that moment and stood on his brakes. I was behind that guy, and had time to stop too. Guy behind that? Got into me hard enough to launch me into the car in front of me. But I got to go home. I’m heartbroken for Wes Rucker’s family.
