Where did you celebrate in 1976?
We drove to Chattanooga and toured the Bicentennial Train. It went around the country with artifacts on loan from the Smithsonian. I remember seeing Babe Ruth's bat, Dorothy's ruby slippers and dress and some cool astronaut space stuff. It took a while to go through and there was a lot of stuff I forgot, but Ruth's bat is in my mind's eye now. It was a great day, I hope we have things like that next year for the 250.

Did your graphic designer run this by your lawyers?
😇 I appreciate the third party deniability clause there. "Yeah, I don't know which of my graphic designers made that image and slipped it into my post when I wasn't looking."

"Dang Chinese password hackers, with their cultural appropriation and patriarchial bigotry!"

That sounds like a great day and a great memory.

I don’t know what they have planned for next year but 1976 was a big deal and years in the making. I remember being at Tennessee games in 74 and the Pride of the Southland was already doing bicentennial shows. You had all the special money in circulation.

Time to go make scratch brownies! (no herbs in these)

A bit of Americana redux for me today. Got invited to an old fashioned, backyard, neighborhood 4th of July party! All nice, young people!

But I say "redux" because the couple hosting and all the young families attending are refugees from California who recently moved here to small town Tennessee.

West Coast diaspora. Lewis & Clark in reverse. Manifest re-colony. But all good people, so... WELCOME!

Have a blast. Need pics of the brownies.

Professor, you ain’t got a hair, if you don’t go post a pic of a hot dude in the LV forum!!

@chuckiepoo help me out here.
Yeah! Say he's being considered to become an assistant coach for one of the Lady Vol teams. Get a hot, holiday rumor thread going over there!

I must say I've noticed among the young women who (understandably) cry "patriarchy" or "toxic masculinity" at certain scenes in vintage movies... don't seem to get quite as triggered when its Cary Grant or William Holden.
