OopsTulane clinches AAC championship-game home-field advantage when they beat Memphis tonight, kicking off at 7:30 ET.

Last week ND stomped Army and Tulane stomped Navy, so the way-too-early Army-Navy winner talk was meaningless hype.Someone asked about what if Army somehow was top ranked G5 team and what would happen if they lost to Navy? The answer is nothing because the CFP teams are selected before the Navy/Army game it will have no impact..
I saw one bowl projection that had Tulane playing W Virginia in the Independence Bowl. Too early to know.Tulane football being relevant during late November for the past few years is lagniappe on top of lagniappe.
So long as it does not become an excuse to sneak Bama (or Kiffin or Beamer) into the playoffs, I'm fine with it. Preserves our elite status in conference as one of only 3 playoff teams, and might result in a change that might help us one year. Here is a crazy thought the CFP probably didn’t think about: what happens whenever there are zero Group of 5 champions in the top 25? What if UNLV, Tulane, and Army all lose this week and Colorado State wins the Mountain West over Boise State, and Army wins the AAC but loses the Navy game?
