Well my friends, unfortunately it's been a very tough week, and in fact a difficult month. About 3 weeks ago I headed over to my parents place about a half hour away to drop by, and my dad caught me on the way in and raised concerns about my mom's health. I talked to her and was surprised that she was having trouble finishing sentences and other issues. I was shocked because I had seen her just 2 weeks before and everything was normal. We convinced her to head to the hospital. Tests seemed fine at first and her condition improved quickly, but then we abruptly received a shocking diagnosis, pancreatic cancer, stage 4. After that, I'm glad I was able to spend a lot of time with her, because things went downhill extremely quickly, and she passed away exactly two weeks after that first day of symptoms (last weekend). It's rough, but I'm hanging in there, I just feel so bad for my dad because of the suddenness of it all. But, I'll be keeping an eye on him. Sorry for the downer post as the weekend begins, but it's better to write about it then it is to talk about it.
Lookouts game was a success. Lookouts beat the Barons 10-5 and crank out 16 hits and scored in all but 2 innings. Got a bunch of “Go Vols!” and “How bout them Braves!” My son got to play one of the games on the field in between innings and he got to run the bases after the game. Tyler Callihan was nice enough to stay after and sign a baseball for him. He looks like a great young player that I could easily see playing 2B for the Reds in the future. Made a great diving play ranging to his left early in the game and then doubled a guy off on a line drive. Also went 1-3 at the plate with 3 RBI, 1 BB, and 1 SB. Looked his stats up and he has been doing very well since being promoted to AA ball.

Next goal is to get her to where she can talk eat & drink. My son & I went to check on a place here in Jackson for her to be moved for 24/7 care once she's left the hospital. Insurance is a wonder thing to have once you've paid for it for years & actually be useful to use the benefit if this happens to someone.Wow hate to hear that man... hopefully she will pull thru this dilemma...she hears you so keep urging her to get thru this....keep us updated.....
He might be held out of Saturday's game depending on how he feels.Calf tightness is usually a precursor to an Achilles tear and very common after you have torn an ACL. I bet he didn’t stretch like he should have. Also doesn’t help that he has played every single game this season. Screw the milestones, get healthy for the postseason.
If I were Snitker I wouldn’t even give him the option. Let him sit the next two games and see how he feels for the Phillies on Monday. Something bad always happens to Acuña at the Marlins stadium. Been a house of horrors for him every since I can remember. They are one of 5 teams that use artificial turf so I assume that has something to do with it.He might be held out of Saturday's game depending on how he feels.

Even superman had his kryptonite. If he's ready to play he'll let snit know.Doesn’t look good. Same knee he tore his ACL in. Anytime a player has tightness in the muscles around where he had a previous injury/surgery is a huge red flag. I’m hoping it really is just tightness but I can’t tell you how many times a player has tightness and then they tear something a week or two later.
Professor, sounds like it’s been a very difficult challenging time for you and your family. I’m so sorry to hear the news about your mom. I hope he’s ok. My boy will be very upset because Acuna didn’t play last season when we were in Atlanta. Now he has a chance to see him play against the Phillies on Wednesday...Doesn’t look good. Florida doesn't have control over anything this year. That's superstion. We only won 2 because previous teams with previous players and coaches came up short those years it's got nothing to do with this team and these coaches unless they let it. Iceman wasn't supersticious about the Swamp which is why he won in the Swamp. There is no reason we shouldn't pummel them today. Even with the injuries we may or may not be dealing with.I hate stats like that. Unbelievable how some teams have control over others.
