I was always taught to have my throwing hand on top of the glove kind of like a clamshell opening, that way your hand is there to prevent the ball from popping out and easily transfer to throw. I guess everyone has their own way of doing itThat is a new one on me. We used to use the back of a closed glove to stop the ball with the throwing hand there to actually catch it. Used it for transfers in a double play scenario (2nd and SS).
