😏 The Mets are playing well a 5 game lead over 2nd place Phillies...
They are but I wouldn’t count out the Phillies.
It doesn’t matter anyway, your Dodgers have enough great veteran leadership and talent in the clubhouse, to flip the switch in crunch time, which I think they’ll do, on their way to another World Series title.

Media tried to tell us early in the season our poor fielding would come back to bite us at some point. The sky isn’t falling or anything like that but we do not look like a title contender this season.
We are the youngest team in the SEC. Doesn’t bode well for going far in the postseason

Don't think the fielding is any worse this year than any other year. Christian Moore had plenty of WTH moments at 2nd base last season. Vols just covered up bad fielding by having a terrific offense and great pitching...

Having 5 guys with 20+ HRs covers up a lot of miscues.

Gavin doesn’t have the arm to play 3rd. He’s better suited for 2B
I think you have the most knowledge of the team dynamics of anyone on the forum. Tony is trying to keep all the best hitters in rotation along with taking care of his high draft picks. This is the direct reason he is so successful recruiting. When you have a injury or someone in a slump or with the yips you have to know all of the players abilities. I still believe he will get it settled for post season. GBO 💥

Thank you but there’s lots of folks on here who are knowledgeable but I appreciate your kind words all the same. I just love the BaseVols as they’ve brought back my love of baseball after MLB crushed it. “How can you not be romantic about baseball?“. It’s a thinking man’s game full of strategy and nuance. We are blessed to have CTV and the staff and team he’s assembled. Baseball can be a very cruel game as I’ve experienced it as a fan and as a player. With that said, I still love it. 😀👍👍👊👊🍊🍊😀😀

The only issue is when you face ++ pitching.
Last night was the epitome of baseball. Two fantastic arms that went deep into the game. The first team to blink was the Vols, unfortunately.
Games like that are what makes baseball the greatest sport in my opinion. Gotta get 27 outs with no time clock (except for pitch clock).

Bold is absolutely spot on. Thanks for supporting the BaseVols and seeing the big picture. I’m betting the Vols learn from last night/early this AM and come out determined tonight. I can’t wait to see how they handle the body blow.

Absolutely….Two first rounders pitching at elite levels. You won’t see better starting pitching than what we witnessed last night. Reminded me of CWS in 23 when Paul Skenes pitched against Wake Forest’s Rhett Lowder. It was a thing of beauty and was blessed to see it in person.

I've always loved baseball and all sports for that matter. Loved playing the game within the game as a player and a coach. Free agency and the strike killed my love for MLB . Coached travel ball for 10 years we had the same problems we're seeing this year with the Big Orange. Sometimes you just can't get everyone where you need them for different games for different reasons. Tony still has time really hoping it works out.

It is more significant than you think compared to last year.

2024 Fielding

Overall: .976% (60 errors, 0.82 per game)
SEC games: .976 (25 errors, 0.80 per game)

2025 Fielding

Overall: .970% (44 errors, 1.05 per game)
SEC games: .969% (21 errors, 1.11 per game)

If this year’s team played the same 73 games as last year they would be on pace to finish with nearly 77 errors overall and 33 in conference. That’s the difference between being a championship team and a team on the outside looking in.
