OldTimer’s Dugout - General Topics, Chat, Random Photos and Memes.......No Politics

The Nico situation doesn't surprise me at all. Everyone should've seen something like this happening when there were no ground rules on how all this NIL, portal should be done.

Reminds me so much if Pro Sports but hey I love Pro Sports ...
I don’t think it’s NIL itself that bothers most people. It’s the fact that there aren’t any contracts to prevent kids from jumping ship whenever they want. That’s the biggest difference between this environment and professional sports. All the risk lies with the school whereas a NFL player can be fined for holding out. If there were enforceable contracts then that would solve some issues.

When a player enters the transfer portal do they pick what school
they would like to transfer to? Or do the school's coaches pick who
they'd like to add to bring in to the fold?
The school the player is wanting to go to has to have an available scholarship and that school has to want them. They can’t just say “I’m going to X school.” Some players will put a “Do Not Contact” tag on their account if they have already been in contact with their desired destination.
