It’s tougb because with that defense of Dak just limits the mistake, could have moved on. Pollard was a big loss though.

I put this loss solely on Dak. He threw that first pick and gifted the 49ers 3 points. Then threw another pick in the red zone on a 2nd and 2 from the 18. Punch that in for a TD and you win the game or at the very least are forcing the 49ers to kick a FG to force OT at the end. You just let the last pick in the draft outplay you for 60 minutes.

  • 1950 - The Associated Press picks the Miracle Braves of 1914 as the greatest sports upset of the 20th century.

  • 1962 - Bob Feller and Jackie Robinson are selected for the Baseball Hall of Fame in their first years of eligibility. Feller won 266 games in 18 seasons and captured 20 games six times for the Indians. Robinson not only broke baseball's color barrier, but also re-introduced speed as a lethal weapon and led the Dodgers to six pennants in ten years.

  • 1967 - Stan Musial is named General Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals.

  • 1968 - Joe Medwick is voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ducky won the Triple Crown in 1937 and batted .300 in 14 of 17 seasons.

  • 1975 - Ralph Kiner earns Hall of Fame membership by a single vote. Kiner led or tied for the National League lead in home runs the first seven seasons of his career and retired with a home run percentage second only to that of Babe Ruth.

  • 1979 - Willie Mays receives 409 of 432 votes in the BBWAA election to earn enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. Mays, a one-of-a-kind mix of speed, power, and glove wizardry, is the first player to finish his career with 300 home runs and 300 steals. His running catch in Game One of the 1954 World Series is still considered one of the greatest defensive plays of all time.

  • 1981 - Faced with the possibility of losing star outfielder Fred Lynn to free agency because of a front-office blunder, the Red Sox trade Lynn and pitcher Steve Renko to the Angels for pitchers Frank Tanana and Jim Dorsey and outfielder Joe Rudi. The Players Association contends that Lynn and catcher Carlton Fisk are free agents because the Red Sox failed to mail their new contracts by the deadline provided for in the Basic Agreement. Lynn signs a four-year deal with the Angels and agrees to drop his case. Fisk's case will go to arbitration.
