You're exactly right- there's a good beer culture in Asheville and the Tourists have a great beer selection.

Sierra Nevada's facility is great. Go for a tour and a meal there. They have samples.

Do the local breweries around that area kick in sponsorship money?
I know there is an AB(Budweiser) house and a Molson(Miller)/Coors house in Asheville as well.
The big 3 and Yee Haw do some things with the Smokies.
