I'm still a gamer, takes the edge off a long day when the kiddos go down. Playing God of War Ragnarock at the moment, which is pretty good.

Playing video games including Horror, Science Fiction,Fantasy, Adventure, Action including Beat Em Up, Post Apocalyptic, Sports, etc is escapism entertainment.

Also it’s a form of art including protagonists and antagonists with goals and motivations, climax, beginning, middle, end, soundtrack including the theme, etc.

That’s why I view it as inane that the entertaining famous Movie Critic Roger Ebert seriously said video games are not art.
While certain video games are abominations that completely miss the mark of art as in more than 300 yards away from the target other video games including Dead to Rights, X Men Mutant Apocalypse, Red Dead Revolver, Sunset Shooters, The Last of Us, etc are undeniably art equal to movies including Jaws, (1987) Robocop, The Terminator, The Fugitive, (1991) Born To Ride, (1990) Total Recall, 48 Hours, The Departed,Cobra,
Die Hard, etc.

Good post ... looks like I'm reading from a magazine or something.

Well, you just convinced me.

Back a long time ago, when I was into Playstation & Grand Turismo games, my favorite track was the Nuremburg track that stretched around a track for two miles of pure pedal to the medal speed. I had to give up playing games ... the games became too expensive to buy, MHO.
Did either of those games ever include the full Nurburgring of something like 16 miles?

I don't recall. It was Grand Turismo 3 game I was playing.
The great thing about electronic games is you can go to places that don’t exist anymore.

Did you know people can take their own vehicles out on a small section of the that track? You can also hitch a ride in a Ring Taxi.

Yeah, video games get a bad rap (although in some cases it is deserved), but I agree that they feature many impressive advancements in art and technology that are often overlooked.

@mad4vols are you seeing this?!
You know I loved video games at the arcade. The reason I don’t care for the ones you play at home is because they aren’t fair. For example at the arcade in a sports game like baseball you can beat the crap out of the machine but on the home version as soon as you get too far ahead it starts to do things to make it more competitive and even.

Wow! They have been fun to watch, thanks.
@VolPack22 do you think they they are going to show the Lions @ Jets down here on Sunday since Detroit is NFL’s hottest team?
I would actually say there is a pretty good chance considering there are three Saturday games this week. The only competition in that 1pm CBS slot is Pittsburgh-Carolina and Kansas City-Houston.

On December 12 in Baseball History...
  • 1949 - By a 7-1 vote, the AL rejects a proposal to bring back the legal spitball. The rules committee also alters the strike zone to the space between the armpits and the top of the knees. The new rule eliminates the batter's shoulders being within the strike zone.

  • 1950 - The owners vote to drop the four-year old bonus and high school rule. This rule was passed to prevent the wealthy clubs from buying up all the talent.
