The dude is balling right now. I might only take Goldschmidt, Alonso or MAYBE Schwarber(I don’t like him though) over him, the last month. And I’d have to REALLY think about Alonso.

He’s having a heck of a season. I think it might come down to Alonso, Riley, and Goldschmidt. Alonso is behind those two in OBP, SLG, and OPS, along with total bases and significantly behind in BA and WAR. The thing that is carrying Alonso right now is the high RBI total. The high BA is really setting Goldschmidt apart right now. There are still roughly 70ish games left to play so a lot could change but if I had to rank the top 3 right now, I would go:

1. Goldschmidt
2. Riley
3. Alonso

Arenado, Alcantara, Machado, Schwarber, Mookie, Freeman, and even Dansby will get votes as well. I’m sure I might be leaving others out but these are the ones that come to mind.

Goldie is having a really nice year. As a fan of 2 national league teams, that Cardinals team scares me. They have 3 veterans that are extremely hungry to go out on top, sprinkled in with some good, young talent and a guy that’s having a career year!

Yeah idk why they didn’t give it to him. That was one of the best pitching seasons, regardless of what era someone pitched in. His WAR was more than 5 points higher than McGee and he had the lowest ERA since Bob Gibson. I will say Greg Maddux also got robbed in 1995 whenever they gave it to Larkin. I guess they really valued stolen bases in that era? I also thought he should’ve won it in 1994 too but it was close, so no big complaint there.

I’ve always like Goldschmidt. Outside of Freddie, he has been my second favorite active 1B to watch. He deserved the MVP over Andrew McCutchen in 2013. They had very similar stats except Goldschmidt had 15 more HR and 41 more RBI. I guess they gave it McCutchen because the Pirates won 94 games while the Diamondbacks only won 81 games.

Yeah whenever you have someone that can get a sub-2.00 ERA for an entire season, that’s something special. Alcantara currently has a 1.73 ERA, so if he keeps that up the entire season I will definitely have him somewhere at the top for MVP. The guy for Tampa is even lower at 1.71 ERA. The two worst markets for baseball have the best pitchers this season. Go figure 😂

I started looking at hats after you posted this.
My favorite obviously is the Tigers but second favorite has been the Reds, always liked that red color and especially the baseball old style head logo. But all of a sudden I had the realization while looking that the Cincinnati C logo looks just like the Chicago Bears C, which I can’t stand, and now I can’t unsee it. Now I’m disturbed.
