You have to really, really, really want to quit to successfully quit. I must have tried a hundred times and failed. I sought professional counseling, and that was the difference for me. I've been smoke free since 98.Ok guys, I’m struggling a little today! I smoked for almost 16 years(disgusting habit) but quit cigs and started vaping (5 years now) I took my last hit of nicotine, Saturday at 3:00! I am fiending today like Tyrone Biggums and I’ve probably gained 15 lbs since Saturday, because all I’ve wanted to do is eat!!
I’ve chewed on a straw so much today that my jaws are hurting!
Any suggestions?
I’m 3 days in, I have to make it at this point! I just told myself that I wasn’t buying anymore and took my last hit on Saturday. The worst part is the habit. I’ve been using toothpicks and chewing straws and playing with a quarter, while I drive. I never smoked around my kids, in the house or car, I was always the idiot standing outside in the rain or 20 degree temps. But honestly, the vaping became worse and more expensive than cigarettes, because I can do it pretty much anytime, anywhere. You have to really, really, really want to quit to successfully quit. I’m glad Scherzer looks healthy again. They are saying Mike Soroka will begin his 30-day rehab soon so hopefully we get him back in mid-August. If he comes back anywhere close to what he was two years ago I would be ecstatic. There is a stretch in August where the Braves and Mets play each other 9 games over like a 15 day period. That stretch will probably be what decides the division.
I can’t speak from personal experience because I tried one cigarette whenever I was younger and wanted to vomit. Never tried it again. My mom smokes and I tell her if she wants to see all her grand babies graduating high school then she needs to quit. I finally got her to quit drinking sodas because her A1C is running in the pre diabetic range and her dad’s life ended too short due to being diabetic. Maybe some day she will quit smoking, sooner rather than later. At least I got her to cut one habit. I’ll take whatever I can get. This is all my opinion, but I believe it is a mental mindset and holding yourself accountable. Maybe keep a picture of your son on the dashboard of your car or something like that and every time you look at it you will try to hold back that urge. Sorry if that doesn’t help and I don’t want to sound like I’m self righteous or anything. Lord knows there are plenty of things in my life that needs fixing. I just believe in tough love whenever it’s needed. I want everyone to live as long as they can and be there for as many memories as possible.Ok guys, I’m struggling a little today! I just have to keep my mind and hands occupied.

One of my favorite quotes was from Denzel Washington’s commencement speech: “If you don’t fail, you’re not even trying.”My counselor told me that smoking is a massively overlearned habit. It isn't just the chemical addiction to nicotine that you're uo against, it is a deep psychological urge to repeat habitual, ritual-like behaviors. Those massively repeated behaviors are themselves addictive. Knowing that helped me understand what I was up against, and it helped me push through. I often, in my attempts to quit, got where you are and beyond 3 days, and the addiction to nicotine was waning. It was the latter, behavioral addiction that kept keeping me from being successful so many times. See if you can get counseling to help overcome your addictive behaviors if you can't successfully quit this time. All of us are different. I'm just giving you my experience in case it helps. One piece of advice I would give anyone - if you fail just keep trying, over and over again. One day you will break through and quit if you just keep determined to do it and keep trying. Good luck, buddy.

No I remember the Braves and Red Sox having epic collapses in September of 2011. Ever since then I have said it’s never over until it’s mathematically over…Tigers swept the Guardians.
They are 11 1/2 games back, break it to me gently, are they too far back to try to make a run for a WC spot this late in the season?
Whoa, that’s crazy. No I remember the Braves and Red Sox having epic collapses in September of 2011. Ever since then I have said it’s never over until it’s mathematically over…
Worst-ever collapses in baseball
I does me good knowing that the 2007 Mets collapse will always be worseWhoa, that’s crazy.
I kind of remember hearing about that Rays game comeback that year.
Good article.
