Seriously can’t make this stuff up. Baker has a knack for performing well whenever his back is against the wall and everyone is doubting him. This is wild though. I thought McVay was idiot letting him start on than kind of short notice. Shows you how much I know 😂

Yeah, but his back is always against the wall and people are always doubting him, so by that rationale he should play well all the time.

Ole Butchy Boy sure let him off the hook in Neyland.

That does not bring back good memories for a fan of Tennessee but also Texas as well

I feel like Baker might just be one of those dudes that doesn’t need a complete playbook because it gets too complicated. Just keep it simple and go play.

I thought this was interesting. Yadi and Benjie Molina with their dad in the center several years ago. Lived in Puerto Rico his whole life, but notice the shirt the Molina’s dad is wearing.
Yadier played for the Tennessee Smokies in 2003. Probably went to some Vols games.

On December 9 in Baseball History...
  • 1902 - The AL announces purchase of grounds for a stadium in New York, and the next day the NL declares its readiness to make peace in the war between the leagues.

  • 1925 - The AL extends league president Ban Johnson's contract to 1935 and gives him a raise to $40,000.

  • 1931 - Baseball owners, fearful of the effects of the Depression, vote to cut squads from 25 players to 23.

  • 1936 - The AL approves night baseball for St. Louis. The NL adopts a new design for home plate. It will have beveled edges, the first change in 50 years. The AL adopts a rule stating that no batter can be batting champion unless he has 400 or more at bats.

  • 1965 - Frank Robinson is traded from Cincinnati to the Orioles for pitchers Milt Pappas and Jack Baldschun and outfielder Dick Simpson. The Reds Bill DeWitt defends the trade by labeling Robinson "an old 30.

And the Memphis Redbirds. Basically spent three years in the state with a 1 year layover in Peoria, Illinois for his 2002 A season.

2001 Rookie: Johnson City
2003 AA: Knoxville
2004 AAA: Memphis
Can we just reach out to these guys and go ahead and make the Molina family, honorary Vols?
You have your assignment @cardvolfan , now get to work!

The Braves really are going to let Dansby walk, aren’t they?
I guess they feel good about Albies’ health and the potential of Grissom.
I said early on that they should’ve traded him, just to get something in return.🤦‍♂️

At this point, I would probably say somewhere around 30% chance he stays. The Braves are going to have to significantly up their offer and I just don’t see that happening. It’s a big decision also because the shift is going away and shortstops are going to be vital in saving runs.
