OldTimer’s Dugout - General Topics, Chat, Random Photos and Memes.......No Politics

I've still got my hopes on us making Omaha, whether rightly or ridiculously is anyone's guess. Or at least to a super regional. Anything can happen. But I'm not getting overwrought about our losses and defects as we go. A lot of disappointment lately. All the old timers taught me to expect anything, baseball is unpredictable, and to appreciate where our program is these days. Some of the folks who taught that to this (still sorta) newbie have been melting down lately, which is sort of ironic. Four years ago (my first season) they said that was a "newbie" thing to do. Anyone who pays attention can learn a lot in this forum.
We weren’t a perennial title contender on an annual basis pre-Covid. We lucked out with the extra Covid year for athletes and basically had a super team 4 consecutive seasons following. I can live with losing straight up but it’s bonehead mistakes that are costing ballgames. 3 errors in a rubber match vs your instate rival is inexcusable. It’s already hard enough to pitch in the SEC but they are making it even more difficult for themselves. The defense and anything situational has been horrible all season and by now if it isn’t fixed or at least on a trajectory to being fixed then it won’t be until the offseason. At least in the previous 4 seasons there was momentum going into the postseason. This team has been in a nosedive the entire second half of the conference season. Huge difference compared to that 2023 team which started 5-10 or something like that. It’s not a meltdown, it’s called being objective and recognizing the reality of the situation.

I can see how we could have won all or almost all of those series. So it's not like I'm picturing impossible things. But, yeah, as you said, it doesn't look like we are improving and fixing the bunch of little things that are holding us back. Which is not a good scenario headed to Fayetteville on Thursday. That's realistic, you're right. But it's also not hard to imagine that loud ball that fell just short of the fence in the 9th inning going over and it looks like we are turning a corner and the mojo is back. Baseball like football, I can now see for myself, is a game of inches. It's not impossible that things get fixed now; it is a longshot.

Thanks for posting this.
A different view. They're gathering in front of and talking 💩 at our dugout was what set it off. Watch Vandy #10, for example. Hunter told them to get out here with that.

P.S. Look at Antigua fly in there! 😆 Rucker can suck it warning AA to be afraid the other night.

My unbiased predictions for Vandy after watching that trashy stunt of theirs after the game.

1. Yelling into our dugout is their peak. They head downhill and we go further in the NCAA tournament than they do.

2. Austin Peay is assigned to Vandy's regional and beats the 'Dores in Nashville.

3. The whistler breaks up with Corbin and Corbin has to go back to his wife.

Watching vandy fail is a bonus for all of college baseball. haha

Well said. 😉

Still don’t think any of them should have ran out there. You are just asking to get suspended and we have possibly the best team in the league on the road this week. Just let them run their mouth.

We have many, many, more Noobs now. On all of us to teach them what it’s about. I’ve not personally welcomed more people to the board, ever. Comes with the territory.
You know it's more the ones who have been in game thread for years thread than the new individuals. For example it starts from the lineup dropping and geesh let's not let the Phillips can't hold a runner thing go. Every game Phillips pitches it's non stop . We all can see supposedly. Then poor Curley they ride him like a borrowed Mule every game, I guess I'm just old and stuff like that irritates the hell out of me.

It was Hunter’s last regular season SEC home game at Tennessee. I think he didn’t feel like being 💩-talked at from people celebrating — not at the mound or in the middle of the field — but feet away from his own dugout… on his field.

You’re right, but I understood him. And I appreciate his teammates standing up for him. Vandy was doing something we would catch suspensions for imo. And some reporters would criticize us because we’re an easy target.

I am hoping maybe it fires up the team.

Your Cardinals on a 8 game winning streak and 1 game back in Central Division.👀👀
they gave stopped losing to the teams they are expected ro beat and have made srides in most aspects of the game. Maybe the Cardinals choice of a ChiSoix fan will kep things rolling.

I;m pulling for Walker to get going

Just remember Vandy has only won 2 natties in baseball, and 0 in this decade (2020s) we have more CWS as a program than they do as well with Tony's arrival.

Feels like Corbin is in a decline...I hate that we lost to them, but I'm more disappointed in Game 2 results than last night. We put ourselves in great position on multiple occasions yesterday to take that game and just couldn't make the plays in the moment, part of a young and inexperienced team.

Keep getting better and hope it clicks for a great post season run.
