Yes Swain gets it. He has made an entire career and livelihood here because he was a VOL, not a mercenary.
Nico can get his now, and I hope that he makes relationships that last the rest of his life, and he lives a long happy one, but man, he was already going to be a multi-millionaire, AND he could have had millions of people who would love him his whole life.

It might be different if he wasn't already going to have millions, but he was! Not to mention how he could continue to develop to make many more millions in the NFL.

Money ain't everything, especially when you've already got more than most people will in a lifetime. Rant over.

He already has made at least $5M from his time here so he was already set. In a state like Tennessee, it’s going to rub the majority of fans the wrong way whenever you ask for even more money whenever most of the state is struggling financially. Go take that nonsense back to California.

Smokies new stadium looks really nice.
Tickets for a game in August are $18.
I understand those players to be professional ballplayers who are only there as long as they perform well enough to not get cut, or perform so well that they move up. Then I get to watch them play in MLB.

I am o.k. with that. I am a fan of minor league baseball. Glad to have plenty of it in my area - Charlotte, Kannapolis, Greensboro, Durham......
When those those players move on, that is what they are expressly trying to do - move on up. College kids threatening bailing every 4 months or so on their teammates and coaches? That crap is crap.

Wonder how wonderboy QBs would feel when the Left Tackle decides to quit on 3d and 8 so said LT can prove his worth, and the DE blindsides the QB into oblivion. All for a "negotiation" that is good for the player. Don't quit on your teammates. If Nico truly is skipping practice as a negotiating tactic, CUT. HIM. LOOSE.

I am currently in the process of negotiating a raise in salary.
I didn’t ask for it, I worked my ass off and the important people noticed. I’m not skipping work until it’s finalized and we come to a deal I feel comfortable with, I’m continuing to work my ass off.
I just can’t come to grips with the whole sports/entertainment industry and their entitlement.

I can’t help it 52. I just can’t seem to find the give a that I once had.
I’ll always root for the Vols, Heup and the football team, will go down swinging for the Deacon and his boys, am 1,000% on board with Ton Voltello and the baseVols, but the days of me sweating out if a kid is committing, coming back for another year or not, or if a coach is hired or fired, are over.
It’ll probably get even worse when Barnes hangs it up.

Honestly, if the “Wild, Wild West” continues with everyone’s a free agent, players moving to new teams every year, renegades out for the highest bidder, and essentially a brand new team comprised of 75% of portal transfers every year…. IF it comes to that (and we’re getting close) I will be done with college athletics. Of course I know that I’m probably an outlier, and that there will probably be a long line of folks to buy tickets and invest in TN athletics, but I will spend my time and money elsewhere…

At least we have Vitello and baseball. The only real bombshell transfer we’ve had was Burns and Vitello was immediately proven correct by winning a national championship while Wake Forest couldn’t even win a regional game. I will put all my efforts into the baseball program and Rick Barnes’ program for as long as he is here. I don’t have faith the next coach will instill the discipline Barnes has brought though.

Lance really only played in 2019. He attempted 1 pass in 2018 and 30 passes in 2020. Nobody in their right mind would draft a FCS QB in the 1st round with that little experience. I was flabbergasted whenever I saw him mock drafted so high. And the 49ers are a good organization lol
