I’m sure I will hear a great sermon at church this morning. And today is the first full slate of NFL games so I’m certain they will have some nice tributes, along with the Yankees having a home game today. Would’ve been nice if the NFL and MLB collaborated and scheduled Giants-Jets and Mets-Yankees today.

I know I am an avid Mets hater but I still remember that game to this day and still get goosebumps and teary eyed. Sports have a way of bringing people together and having moments that Hollywood couldn’t script. I would be hard pressed to think of a better sports moment than that one, a regular season MLB game in September. As all the people involved within that game have said, it was more than a game. It was the one and only time the Braves have lost and I still felt enjoyment like they had won. I’m happy Piazza hit that home run. New York, and really the whole country, needed that moment. I wish I could have been there to experience it.

Tennessee fans are the best in the country.

There were a number of Pitt haters who were Tennessee fans for the day in Morgantown, West Virginia yesterday. Our oldest, who attends WVU, said he was in a restaurant playing the Tennessee game before the WVU game and when Tennessee scored, they cranked up Rocky Top.

He also said that the winning drive of the overtime was played on the WVU stadium’s Jumbotron. Lots of happy Mountaineers with the Tennessee win.

Watching the Tennis US Open this year, it was strange not having any lines judges, it’s all computerized, even a recorded voice that says “out”.
