16 in a row. Only 2 wins in July
1 more game tonight vs Royals and a 6 game trip to Minnesota and Oakland awaits.
27-83 .245 39.5 back of Cleveland 33.0 back in wildcard
I don't think this season is getting enough press.
On season long pace for 122 losses and -327 run differential
At July's pace (.083), Sox would finish 31-131 and -374. Which would crush the modern era loss record and ALL run differential records.
I'm guessing the Sox will be calling up a lot of guys in September from the farm to give them a look and will also be allowing some of the non-starters more at bats. So
Twins finish off the sweep in Chicago with a 3-10 pounding
White Sox's 17th loss in a row with a trip to the Twin Cities and then Oakland for next 6 days.
The Twins are 5-5 in last 10 and the A's are actually 6-4
Here's why this is important. The modern major league record losing streak is 23-games. There are three pre-1900 teams (that no longer exist) at 23, 24, and 26 (Louisville Colonels 1889)
So, if the Sox lost all six road games, they tie that terrible record with a home game next Friday against the Cubs as the potential record setter. And boy! Would the Cubs fans like to be the ones to post that record on their cross town fansbase.
Numbers update.
* 27-84 Overall (.243) 51 games remaining
* 2-23 in July (.080)
* 40 games behind Guardians in division and 34 games behind in Wild Card Race.
* 17-40 home | 10-44 road | 20-61 against > .500
* -229 run differential
At season .243 rate: the Sox are on track to finish 39-
123
At July's .080 rate the Sox would finish at 31-
131
Full season, the Sox have been outscored 2.063 per game which would put them on pace -334 run differential pace for season.
However, the Sox were outscored at 3.08 runs per game in July. At that pace they would finished at -386 for rest of season)

The White Sox would need to do better than the season average to avoid the "modern" record of 120. Keep in mind, this was the last year of the Spiders played 112 games on road as their owners were trying to lose (owner just purchased the StL Browns/Cardinals and were moving best players to that team) and the Mets were an expansion team with the worst expansion rules ever.

I don't see the Sox winning any of the three in Minnesota so that would get them to the 20 game level. The sox are staring Davis Martin on Friday who has not made a MLB start since 2022 and his first appearance since 2022 was this past week after Tommy John in 2023 and 14 months of rehab and only 7 appearances (all starts 0-1) and 20.3 inns in minors . Crochet is scheduled for Saturday bet is facing Ober and Flexen is finishing on Sunday.
