Art Model(Cleveland Browns owner) bought it in 1970 and renamed it Goldrush Junction.
It was sold in 76 and in 1977 renamed Silver Dollar City.
In 1986 Dolly Parton bought an interest in the park and part of the deal was a name change to Dollywood.

I used to go to SDC as a kid and remember when it changed to Dollywood. I seem to remember a train you could ride around the park and they would do a “train robbery” thing. Ride up on horses, stop the train, board it and everything. I think I cried thinking it was real.

The Browns used to hold camp at the area used by the trollies between PF and Gatlinburg.

Believe it or not, there used to be a football field there.
