Old Dooley Threads

I got blasted for saying Dooley needs to go after Miss St

That was when I was ready to hang him too. How do you come out that flat after a bye week. It was pathetic. Dooley could never manage to get a team to play for 4 quarters; usually only until half time. That game was the one oddball because we played the second half instead of the first lol.

Yeah, most of us got blasted on here for years for pointing out that Dooley was not a good coach and was not improving our program. Now, it's funny, everyone acts like they were skeptical too, but go back and look at some of the threads after the Kentucky loss and see how many people were arguing that they just needed more time.

for real fun reading (maybe in the "so sad its funny category") check out this thread from right after he was hired:

I think I was on the opposite end of this argument. I defended the guy for way too long when he was our coach, and then after he was fired I developed a strong dislike for him. It wasn't until I learned about his relationship with HS programs in TN (TimesFreePress had a great article) that I really felt like he was the wrong type of guy to lead our program. I was obviously very wrong for defending him, but I do think he's probably a strong position coach....definitely not head coach material.

Kentucky was the first sign to me, and I wanted to believe until the Mizzou game. Horrible D and 4th quarter quitting. Hating him now is the easy thing to do, but he came close in a lot of games - LSU, UNC, Georgia, USCe - Everybody believed we had the Gators until the 4th quarter. sigh.

Sidebar - Sunseri and Sanders are having a lot of success at Florida St these days.

FWIW, and that's nothing I said he was a complete fraud and should have never been offered the job day 1....

It was blatantly obvious...

During his tenure as our coach I remained fair but objective....you know how that was received...

I hate to beat a dead horse but the problem on defense, which is still evident, is a complete lack of not only playing speed but actually being physically slow. These players are hesitant, which could be from so many different d coordinators, and also cannot pursue. Hesitation causes bad angles, bad angles with slow recovery speed = big play.

yea, need speed in the secondary/LB's and it was even evident against Mizzou

False premise by the OP. Volnation is not one person with one opinion, so no that didn't happen. Some people chose to talk nice about him after he was fired. Some people also choose to speak nice about their hostage takers after they are released too. Syndrome IMO

I simply find nothing good at all about Dooley. Tried, wanted him to succeed, but turns out he was a punk who also BTW couldn't coach his way out of a Mike Hamilton job interview.

I called for his Head and the KY and don't remember if I got blasted or not because I was to pissed to care.

I still can't believe we lost that game. That was the worst Ky team I had seen in 10 years and they beat us with a WR under center. Damn I need to stop because I am starting to get Mad just thinking about it.

The WR under center led Ky. to only 10 points. Our prolific offense lost that game.

I don't know if defending CDD meant I supported him because he was the head coach, but until the Mizzou game last season that was the case. The end of regulation was the last straw for me.

How in the name of General Neyland do you not make an attempt to win the game when you are: 1) playing at home, 2) have good field position, 3) have two timeouts, 4) have one of the best passing attacks in the country?

Just thinking about the way that game ended makes me want to throw up. However, without that game and other near-misses, CBJ and his staff might be stacking bricks at Colorado.
