OL Chris Akporoghene Leaving Vols

Offensive lineman Chris Akporoghene has entered the transfer portal. Hopefully, we have a lot of depth at that position so this doesn't hurt us.

He didn’t count as depth anyway. Frees up another scholarship which is good since we’re tight on #s with the self imposed scholarship restrictions right now. Sounds like they expire in the Spring though so I don’t expect we bring in a lot of transfers then

Your number for the semester counts the first day of class for that term. Today is the first day of class, so any further portals had to happen now. If that is the only one that is announced today, then we should just about be done. Then we can bring in as more in August to get us to the number we want. I think we were full or about full while we were counting on Neyor. Losing him plus CA means we should be able to take 2 more signees/portals this semester. I am not a numbers expert, but that is my understanding of the rule.

Another Pruitt casualty
I hate that we have a roster full of these guys.
Seem to have all the talent and tools, but never got the proper instruction when they landed under Pruitt and the Ship of Fools.

Now unfortunately, for whatever reason, they don't seem to click with the new system.
Best of luck young man - continue writing your AMAZING story !!!

Probably a good kid ...wish him well ...when he signed I got ripped for saying he would never play when it mattered ... because he was lacking so bad in aggressiveness and agility .. so I expected this .. sooner than it actually happened .. must be gonna some guys coming after spring ball .

The Simpson’s GIF of the guy walking in taking off his hat, making a circle, then walking back out is the perfect representation of what college football has become for many of these athletes. I do not think it’s for the better.

Chris is staying on scholarship until May. He needs this semester to graduate. Can't fill his spot until then.

I agree with the sentiment but not sure it applies to Chris. I think he has been here at least 3 and maybe 4 years. He was a project with great size and athleticism but very limited football experience. He was never able to earn playing time. I am glad he is graduating and wish him well. Hopefully, he finds a spot to get some game experience and maybe attract some attention.

Yep. The portal isn't relevant here. He was here 3 years and will be getting his degree, so he will be a Grad transfer. I hope we can all wish him the best of luck. He should have 3 more years due to redshirting in 2019 and Covid 2020. I hope he can find somewhere that he can play and contribute. If you gave it 3 years and have a degree from UT, you are a VFL in my book.
