This is good, right? I liked him, but I don't know that I have a good reason why.
The 2012 offense with him calling the plays was fantastic. Unfortunately, the defense that year was historically terrible. He resurfaced again under Pruitt but that was a complete disaster as well.

Considering the offense isn't this season's achilles heel, why is Chaney returning to the hill? Seems Landry Jones, Halzle and Heupel are working cohesively for the time.

I mean he is just an analyst. Bama hired guys like him and higher profile guys all the time when Saban was there, despite the fact things were already going pretty well.

I don’t think it ever hurts to have another set of eyes with new ideas. The guy was an undefeated HC at UT.

Maybe we are turning into the new "MCGA" place?

I'm going to say that after being an analyst at a few places and not being in the thick of coaching, maybe Chaney is wanting to notch it back up again.
If you are known as one of the architects of "Basketball on Grass", what better place to get back into the game than right now at Tennessee?

Then again, doesn't he have ties to Heupel from time at Mizzou and maybe others on the staff (wasn't he and Willi M here under Pruitt)...maybe this is just 'friends' throwing a 63 year old dude a gig to get him to retirement ???

Dooley noted, great offense with Tyler Bray slinging it around but the Sal Sunseri's defense was as bad as a UCLA Offense is this year. Oh' wait, Sal's son Tito Sunseri is Nico's offensive Coordinator. Whole bunch of karma there, no doubt.

If so it is much more puzzling that we didn’t take a shot after the strip sack. Shot to the endzone after a turnover was always his thing. Guess he got overruled.
