OL blocking question

Rather than starting my own OL thread, I'll ask my question here. When run blocking, why is it that when our RBs get tackled, our OL is standing up looking around? I haven't seen our OL get up off the ground at all this year, unless they tripped over someone and fell down. Pancake blocks mean nothing anymore? And yes, I'm aware that we rushed for over 200 yards last night.

they buried Marlin at his feet. Saw Tiny just let the DE cave in and nail the rb for a no gain, when he would have had 10 with a simple seal block. It appeared that the DE knew the play and Tiny did not.

How on planet earth do they grade this week in and week out and never change this. These guys are beasts, yet the front seven of the Ds continually pile on our runners for ng while the OL are standing over the pile. I cannot believe its still happening.

Could this be the most important, most dead-on post on Volnation?

All of this is SO DEAD ON! Our OL is simply not getting it done. I keep thinking it's got to be the scheme because these guys have a lot of starts under their belts except for Tiny. They seem athletic with good size but are they not coached to engage and stay on their blocks for more than a nanosecond?

Rule # 1 per our system....the offensive linemen are not allowed to cross the line of scrimmage until the ball passed them. It works exactly like it does in rugby. You can't get in front of the ball.

Tiny needs to be at OG on the right side instead of Fulton. Most of our successful running plays have been to the left behind Thomas

So far no answer. It's my question as well, if anyone has an answer. We have some beast on the line. Why can hey not at least push a yard or two. They need to be knockin' some asses down to create some space and lanes. I don't get it.

the OL is frustrating as hell. It seems like there's talent there....we're told there's talent there....yet they never seem to put it all together. I was critical of Hiestand last year and put much of the blame on him. Just look at Notre Dame's OL.......they look pretty darn good and sometime dominating against decent competition. Don't know if UT's problem is the players or coaching but something is terribly wrong.
