So exactly how many YEARS does it actually take to recruit and "develop" a credible OL? Bama abused UT WORSE than they did UK. Let that sink in a while....

Can someone explain why our O-line is such garbage. And don't say injuries because it was garbage in Weeks 1 and 2

Is it coaching?

Recruiting?

Well Like i have said I dont get this Offense. Butch comes in makes a NFL Line yes the whole line was NFL look stupid. They did play through injuries and stuff but never went out. Then he gets his line going with his players they stay hurt and always look out of place or like they have no clue who to block. So is it the players or the scheme?

Bama has 6 number 1 consecutive recruiting classes. Our developed lines < UA developed lines.

Burch Jones, Shoop, Debo and Scott put the most ILL prepared team on Shields-Watkins Field I have ever witnessed . . . and I go back to the 80's as an Alumni . . . passed off!

Guys.... the Oline is still a relatively young group whether you like it or not

Frankly, I don't like it because this is year 4 of this coaching staff and this is still by far the weak spot of the team. That's on the coaches and their recruiting.

I thank the players for giving it their all.

This is a MAJOR concern. We got owned today at the line of scimmage. Defense is suspect too but i think it's a lack of playmakers over there. How many years do we struggle here?

Are we back to this?

Sorry, I'm just being a turd. Just my way of coping with the embarrassing beatdown.

But in all honesty, Butch hasn't really done much to build a great offensive line since he's been here.

And they have exactly ONE 3 star guy coming in to reinforce what they have now.

Butch and Mahoney favor a zone blocking scheme that relies on movement and correct positioning to cause opposing rushers to take themselves out of the play

We seem to be missing the part where they take themselves out of the play.

So all you armchair coaches knew 5 star Richmond wasn't going to be an immediate impact player? I'll go back and find your posts where you said we should have passed on him...

Actually we are in the mix for another 4 star OL but please go on record now as to whether he will be an impact player or a bust...

We signed 4 star Austin Sanders in 2013, 4 star Blair in 2014, 4 star Jack Jones, 4 star Zack Stewart, 4 star Venzell Boulware, 5 star Mitch Richmond in 2015 and then 4 star Ryan Johnson this year...that's 5 blue chips signed in the last two years. Of course Stewart never enrolled due to family issues but still, that's 4 blue chip lineman in two years...three of the 4 were (or are being) redshirted

Begs the question of what happened to his development does it not?

Before we get the requisite praise for Pittman, he's now at UGA with 3 seniors on his OL, Nic Chubb and Sony Michel as his RBs, they had a team total of 75 yards rushing, couldnt get a yard on 4th and 1 and lost to Vandy today because of it. No more of that guy's praises on VN please.
