I guess it's pretty much a given that Bryce Brown will be the starter next year. Will Oku or Poole be his backup? I certainly hope it's Poole. I really like the guy. He may not bust off 80 yard runs, but he's decisive and hits the hole hard. I like Oku as more of a third down back coming out of the backfield.

Coach Dooley doesn't even know yet. If I had to guess, I'd guess Oku, but don't forget about Toney Williams.

Hopefully Toney Williams will be 100%, that guy was a monster. however after injuries sometimes ur just never the same

I like Poole too, maybe BB will get about 50-60% then Poole & Oku can split the rest? But like was said earlier, who knows what Dooley will do or who steps up.

Oku impressed me as more of the Skat back or situational runner type. Of course I didn't see him much in the rb position. Poole always impressed me and Williams looked good during the spring.

I remember Poole had some pretty good fall practices where he outperformed everyone, including Hardesty. I kinda feel Lane shafted him a bit because he wasn't a home run hitter.

I think BB and Poole will split the majority of reps, with T. Williams playing some RB and FB.......Oku will be a 3rd down back and play slot behind GJ......if Rajaan Neal plays, then someone else won't.......I hope he can keep all the guys on the field, somehow......BB is not physically ready to be an every-down back, Poole will be much more durable, IMO.......

I know I may get bashed but I think Poole is our best north and south runner and should be handling the majority of the carries. IMO

BB- starter and should get the bulk of the carries. (hope to see him break big runs)

IMO, Oku should stick to special teams and third down packages.

Williams and Poole will battle for the #2 slot. If Williams comes back healthy, I see him taking that role, IMO

I don't think we've seen enough of any of them to make a proper assessment. We saw a lot of Brown last year, but how much of it was when he was 100% is the big question. Poole looked good when he was in the game, which wasn't very often, so it's difficult to get a good feel for him. Oku did well on kick-returns but, again, didn't see a lot of him coming out of the backfield. Williams ran well in the Spring but a lot of people play well in the Spring and doesn't translate to the fall (i.e. Quinton Hancock, Crompton in 2008, etc).

I'd guess Poole as backup with Oku and Williams third. I would think that Neal will sit and be redshirted. Oku will continue to return Kicks. Maybe next to Hunter or Dixon.

Considering that our O-line is pretty weak, it should come down to whoever runs the hardest and will make the most out of nothing. IMO that would be Poole and Brown, maybe Williams if he recovers from the injury. Oku is pure speed, and more than likely he would have to break a tackle or two before even stepping out of the backfield, which is not his strong suit. Brown will have to run harder than he did last year to beat out Poole, imo. Poole is just a beast. Hope BB will beast up too.

Neal will redshirt. Don't get me wrong, I like BB, but Poole and Williams both looked good to me. I know BB had the hip injury or whatever, but Poole and Williams looked like the real deal. This is a great problem to have...too many good tailbacks.

if bryce doesnt hit the holes like he is suppose to look for williams or poole to step in, but just my opinion.Who knows bb could be the next mark ingram holding the heisman trophy above his head.

Oku is eventually going to break some returns, and once he does I hope its like a shark with blood in the water. I'd love it if our offense didn't get much yardage because our drives start in the other team's redzone.

I never understood why Oku was getting the scraps last year instead of Poole.

Agreed. I think what we will see this year is a stable full of Running Backs all working their tails off. I think the playing field will be somewhat even coming into the season so no one can afford to relax.

i think oku getting all those carries at the end of the games was lanes way of trying to keep HIS recruits happy. There is no way Poole should have only gotten 10 carries last year. which he averaged for 8.5 carries I may add.

Agreed. Hopefully, Poole will get his chance now. I'm glad he stuck around. I know there were some rumors on this board of him transferring. I assume those have subsided?

since none of you actually saw tony williams play how can you say he is a monster and will be are starter or backing up bb. he had one spring practice that is all.. everyone reads way into the spring and fall practices what i want to see is gameday and are best back is brown and we shall see who gets the backup... i hope its oku b/c he and brown are totally different runners and poole and brown are very similar

I have said this before. Brown averaged 4.6 ypc last year. That was without being 100% healthy. Brown is the #1 back. Brown is the real deal and none of the others have had enough carries to prove themselves. You will have a #2 and #3 as we know but I look for how the 2-3 preform with the carries that they get early on in the season to set the tone for the #2 back at the mid season.

I'd like to see Oku used similar to the way Percy Harvin was, split him out for screens, bring him on end arounds/reverses, run short drag and hitch routes, and occasionally give him some carries out of the back field. He's supposed to have real good hands and with his speed and elusiveness he should be dangerous in space
