Did anyone note that Oklahoma has missed almost a week and a half of spring practice because they are protesting SAE?

They're a pretty veteran squad. Do you think it'll really detract from their total on the field performance come this fall? It's also interesting considering their propensity to accept players on or back on to the team who have abused a woman.

Not only accept abusers of women back on the team (Mixon), but also actively recruit women abusing transfers from other teams (Dorial Green-Beckham).

QB (Tie) Dobbs vs Knight
OL (OK) yeah we are one year older but doesn't say much
RB (OK) hurd and Kamara will be good but their Soph is better
TE (TN) I really like what we have here
WR (slight UT) good players on both sides, i think we are more talented but they produce

DE (TN) barnett and maggitt and any number of others
DT (Tie) we weren't that good last year and they were, both have new faces
LB (slight UT) outside of Stryker I am not impressed with what they have
C (slight OU) Sutton is the best one out there, but the rest is relatively unproven for us
S (UT) age and depth

ST (UT) as a unit we are better
overall Slight favor for OU on offense, slight favor for UT on D. should be a darn good game.

OU has a new OC this year who is coming out of East Carolina where they used the Air Raid. It's a good chance they will give that a try this year as well. Now how does our secondary stack up against that? I'd tend to think pretty good since the players aren't all in place for that kind of offense (yet) and new system, new coaches, new mentality, etc. And our secondary has some potent weapons.

I agree it will be a good game, but I'm thinking UT will come out on top. That's not a homer prediction by any means, but I think our young talent far outweighs their young talent save Perine. And he can be bottled up by the weapons we're bringing in on the front seven if Tennessee plays to the level they are capable of. (which there is no doubt they will) And if you put Knight on his ass a few times (which Maggitt and Barnett are certainly capable of) the chances of him getting that Air Raid going are not going to be good.

Half of this board thinks we were one play away from beating them last year, so we should be in good shape.

2 plays away. We were in the redzone twice and came up with -7 points (2 picks, one taken back for a td).

If you change that from -7 to 14, it's a 21 point difference and we have a damn good game despite our inability to block anyone that night.

I got excited about their OL being full of seniors until I noticed they're all backed up by redshirt juniors

Two are repeated. Will be a Sophmore or 2 plus the Senior C and some RS Seniors. We will match up better just because of Dobbs in the game as a whole.

Didn't he get beat out at Texas Tech? I really really doubt that.

Edit: Just looked into it, Mayfield is getting a ton of hype. I didn't think he looked good at all what I saw at TTU.

I'm an OU fan and our QB situation is waaaayyyy up in the air. Most of our fans are pretty down on Knight because of two pick sixes he threw against TCU and KS St that were the difference in those games. Hard to say if Mayfield or Thomas or Hansen can win the job. We are coming to your fair state for the game and are really pumped about being at Neyland for a game. One of the great venues in the country. Before last year my best memory of OU-TENN was Granville Liggins vs Bob Johnson in the 1968 Orange Bowl.

Sure hope we can make a legit game of it this year. We seemed to get a lot of attaboys for only losing by 3 TDs and a fg last year. Hope you have a great experience and enjoy your trip to Knoxville in September.

KBVol,

Thanks, i appreciate the kind words. We're staying at the Marriott which, if my memory serves me, used to be a Hilton. Any advice on food and drink is welcome. Also, any good tailgating to be had? It's been 20 years since I stopped in Knoxville for the night. Is that Marriott close enough to walk to restaurants, bars and Neyland?

'That '68 Orange Bowl was truly a great game. Tennessee came storming back from a 19-0 halftime deficit to narrowly miss a game-winning 43-yard field goal attempt by Karl Kremser.

He is getting hype because he can actually hit a 10 yard pass and that was his freshman year. OU is moving to air raid and both QB's are looking good (Mayfield edge). They did get Mixon back and they have Perine. Then you add in Shepard and (Dede) Westbrook (JC50) (Bline) and they have a formidable offense under new OC (Lincoln Riley).

Offense I believe they have an advantage (not giant esp with QB questions) with Perine+Mixon and Shepard+Westbrook. The defense is a toss up (slight TN maybe) they will be rushing Striker more and they have Sanchez (will occ. get beat deep but will likely make play and get an int). They also have Tapper (comes out sometimes b/c of Sickle Cell) Other than that they will get Frank Alexander back that's about all I know about their defense. (They played like 10 yds off last year and everyone wanted to fiar Mike stoops)

We're really looking forward to a great game and a new place to visit. I have no idea what to expect from OUr offense, except for a healthy dose of Perine. The D will hopefully be better than the second half of last year. Mike Stoops has been "reassigned", so maybe we can man up in the secondary a little. Part of our defensive struggles last year was plain old personnel problems. Much like your OL (the right tackle leaps to mind) a lot of our secondary was inexperienced. You put a young kid out there in a mediocre defensive scheme against Baylor and he's going to get lit up...and did.
