OSU Is not a football powerhouse. OSU never has been, nor never will be a powerhouse. Never. Ever. N.E.V.E.R.

To others who are spouting off names of wishful thinking coaching names are about as delusional as this board has ever been. If Gundy leaves (I highly doubt he will), OSU will not be in position to hire a proven head coach. Not because of money, but because it's OSU - Stillwater, Oklahoma. Not a freaking sought-after destination by anyone.

Fedora? Please. Holgerson? Haha. No. NO. Sumlin? Hell no. There is not one damn coach that will ever achieve the type of success Gundy has bestowed upon OSU football. If Gundy leaves, better believe the next coach will be an unproven up-and-comer. Or will be some hackjob that is semi-successfull, yet no big name collegiate football program would ever hire. Leach? Give me a break. Yeah right.

Lots more posts like this. But I don't see it happening. I don't see UT paying this guy 8.4 unless its true Schiano was the only other person they offered. The current third highest paid coach in the NCAA is making 7 mil. Only 5 coaches make 6+ mil. Dabo Swinney, number 2, makes 8.5. 5 mill is top ten money... Almost everyone on the list of possible coaches would be getting a doubling of salary at 7 mil much less 8.4 but they would also know what they paycheck means.

Number 1 and Number 2 both have something in common. Nattys and recent dominance. We are gonna pay some happy shlub 6-7 mil and be done. It won't be Gundy...

It’s true. Schiano is the only guy Currie even considered. He was in talks with him before he fired Butch

Witch Doctor say Gundy may say YES and Witch Doctor ok with Gundy. But if he says no, lets face it, that clears the way for Kiffin as Currie has proof he opened up the pocketbook ( one of the gripes of these coaching searches ) And Kiffin has been real quiet about Tennessee today, the rock getting painted and all the talk..? all hes done today is needle Saban, something we all love.

At this point. Hell yes.

The image of Tennessee football will be changed instantly. The idea that we only get bargain coaches flies out the window. Tennessee would be a destination job again. Gundy is well respected in all of college football and arguably one of the most iconic coaches that is currently active. Simply because of the mullet.

Of course! Gundy would be crazy to turn that crazy money down ($8.4 million LOL). The agents of Jimbo Fisher, Scott Frost, Kevin Sumlin, Matt Campbell, Mike Norvell, Brent Venables, Jeremy Pruitt, and Kevin Steele (among many others) are routing for ya to raise that bar, baby!!

And If I were an AD anywhere else my response would be sorry not offering anywhere near that because IT athletic department is screwed up ours is not.

I tried also, but I couldn’t either. I wasn’t going to be ugly though! I haven’t signed up for any other message boards yet, but I’m thinking about trolling uncle Lou! :)

6.5 to 7 mil a year to clean up the mess but not 8. He hasn’t won anything at State but OSU simply can’t compete with OU and Texas. Stillwater is in the middle of nowhere and OU is very close to Oklahoma City.

I lived in OKC for a while and 80% of the people I met were OU fans and 10% cheered for Texas.

He is a good coach and could do some damage at Tennessee with the recruiting budget and salary for a staff.

I doubt Gundy leaves OSU because he is set for life there and will never have to worry about job security or fan pressure to win the Big 12 every year.

FWIW,

UF just released Mullen's contract details for your info and comparison:

Mullen’s contract is worth $36.6 million dollars over six years. In addition to a base yearly salary of $3 million Mullen will receive a an annual sum of $1.75 million paid bi-weekly for media and public relations responsibilities as well as other compensation that brings his exact yearly salary to $6,103,000 a year.

Performance bonuses available for Mullen are approx $1 million max for any given season.

In addition Mullen will also have $5 million dollars to hire assistant coaches for his football program.
