A phenom? Can we at least wait until practice before saying dumb stuff? If he was that good, he wouldn't have been at Appy State and UCLA. I think he can have a better season than Nico did last year, but that's not really saying that much.

This is Josh Heupel's offense. I don't get any sort of narrative that the change from Golesh to Halzle has had any sort of negative impact on the offense. I might buy that if it weren't still Josh Heupel's offense. Now, has it evolved? Yes. Do they change things based on their talent? Yes, and you want that. But as far as there being some dropoff just due to that move, I don't buy it. Heupel has had success everywhere.

The point I'm making is, I don't care whose offense it is, Hooker made Golesh look like a superstar. Halzle had no Hooker---not that we know of..lol.

Yeah, I got your point. Was just wanting to make an overarching comment on the narrative that the offense took a step back explicitly because Golesh left. I just don't believe that had as much an effect as so many other factors.

Agreed! I'd throw GA in there too until we can prove we can beat them. Hoping we win all 3, but I'd say we lose all 3 before winning all 3. Hell, I'd take 1-2 or 2-1 vs those 3 in an odd yeared year.

I would be happy with 1-2 against that slate.

If you can only find a QB who can actually execute your offense every 3 or 4 years, uhhhhhh...

It seems like we've got young talent, plus the frosh coming in next year. The hope is that one of our two non frosh QBs can keep us on the rails...nothing against MacIntyre, but if we end up w/ a frosh as a starter, that's usually not a good thing.

W/ all the transfer portal stuff, it almost feels like basketball where there's been a few years where we really didn't know what we had until the season started...fortunately Rick hasn't missed too many steps and has kept us rolling. Hard to tell how the OL, QB and WR rooms will pan out...if they're a net positive to LY, we'll have a pretty good season. Think WR will be better, but if OL/QB are a step back, we may be in for a very average year.

I don't think Hazle was as good as Golesh and that with Nico's inability to run the O fast was last season's issue. Heup cannot make it go faster if the QB cannot do it. Hence we ran the ball a lot last season.
