Oklahoma has a stud QB this year

Kid’s gonna be a pain to deal with. I know very little about him because I wasn’t exactly paying attention to Washington State last year, but he threw for 3,139, 29 TD’s and 7 INT.

He also added another 826 and 15 TD’s on the ground at 4.5 a carry.

So right at 4,000 yards and 44 TD’s in the 2024 season.

Kid is legit, early Heisman watch apparently.

Absolutely agree..Mateer is a beast. OU completely changed their offensive personnel. They have a great QB, his OC, an elite RB from Cal and they will always have a really good D. This will be a completely different and dangerous OU team this season. Glad we get them at home.

People also forget that Oklahoma was completely depleted at WR due to injuries last year as well. This will definitely not be the same Oklahoma team we faced last year in Norman! They are going to be a problem this year, even at home!

Agree! They will always be good on D and completely upgraded their offense. On top of adding a stud RB to go along with Mateer. They will be a hard and dangerous team to play this year, even in Neyland!

Ok ok… I’ll admit I prematurely did not check Wash St’s 2024 schedule before posting.

I’m 39 and never played football and I might be able to rack up some decent stats against that schedule.

His highlight reel looks good. Regardless of whether he was playing against the Philadelphia Eagles or the Gibbs High School Eagles, that arm is legit.

Washington State played a glorified Sun Belt schedule. Matier threw for 3,100 yds vs it and he’s a Heisman candidate by many. Our guy threw for 3,700 Yds & he sucks.

Yikes. Good info. Thanks.

Worked for Pavia and Cam Ward also came out of WSU the year before then going to Miami and being the number one pick. The OC and QB coach went to Oklahoma with him. Who knows the SEC seems wide open this year with all the new QB's including Aguilar.
.
yeah but those guys played before the pac-12 died, right? so its not quite the same. Mateer played a glorified MAC schedule last year, right?

all depends on their OL. that was really shaky too last year and our DL tee'd off on them.

Sure 7-5 is "possible." Every team in the SEC can beat you on any given Saturday if you don't play your A game and a bounce of the ball goes against you. Hell, Vandy beat #1 Bama, beat both Auburn and Kentucky on the road, and lost by 3 to TEXAS! But, saying 7-5 is most likely is selling this UT team short. When you include depth at all positions, this is without a doubt Heupe's most talented roster at UT.
You wouldn't be a lawyer by trade would you? 😏

An SEC defense or two, may provide him with a warm welcome to the conference greeting.

He may be a stud but unless you are coached by Kirby Smart and have 5 star talent everywhere you will not win at Neyland against Heupel.

Now do Arch.
I think the “arch mania” is overboard also. Yes he might be great but we don’t know now how he’ll stand up to game plans & strategy by DCs once they really get film on him to study. Those 2-3 games last year, he didn’t have to show much.
