Oklahoma Game Attendance

Every fan base has a few knuckleheads so to speak. Can't avoid them. But it's always fun to have a conversation with fans of the opposing fan bases if they are classy. Sometimes you learn more that way. I could tell that there were some good people over at LandThieves. Sometimes the good ones just get drowned out by all the trolls.

We would take all the knuckleheads from Volnation over 1 Texas ash-hole.

Guys, thanks for all of the advice on stuff to do on gameday. We've heard quite a bit about tailgating on the river. What's the deal with this? Is there a place to rent a boat nearby?

FWIW, I know he's a Norman fixture, but Jim Ross is doing one of his one man shows on Friday night before the game if you want a touch of home.

I've always loved the guy so I'm going.

I'm honestly not 100% sure on where you can rent a boat or if you can, but if it is a possibility you will have to get there early because the Vol Navy shows up in force at the crack of dawn on game days.

At worst, you can head on down to Calhoun's by the river. There will be plenty of people tailgating down that way and it is literally right on the river so you will be able to take all the scenery in that way. It's got some pretty solid food as well.

Honestly, if yall go walking down to the riverfront to check out the Vol Navy in your Oklahoma gear, theres a decent chance someone within the first 5-10 boats you walk past will probably invite you to come on for a beer or a snack.

Just be friendly and I'd almost be sure you could get on the water for a little bit. Most of those people are pretty cool.

This is very true, in regards to the Vol Navy, or any other area of town/campus any OU fans may hang out at.

For the most part we're a curious fan base when it comes to out of conference fans. Most people will want to talk to you and find out what life in the Big 12 is like and how you compare Knoxville/Neyland to other road trips you've made.

Some chatter on some OU boards that they have reached out to the SEC about them and OSU Cowboys being the two schools we add if the conference moves to 16 teams.

If so, this is how the new SEC might look:

East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
S.Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

West
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas A&M

This would eliminate the need for permanent cross division rivals since Auburn/Georgia and UT/Bama now in same division.

The west just got a whole lot weaker

Yes, but more fair don't you think?
Why should we have to play Bama every year and others in our division don't.
The same for Georgia playing Auburn.
Plus, I would love to renew our series with Auburn.
And, Missouri really belongs in the West where they would be with former Big 12 teams.

We choose to play Bama every year. It may not seem like it because our teams have been on opposite ends of the spectrum, but this is a major rivalry game. We refuse to run away from Bama, and they certainly aren't running away from us. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

The East would have all the traditional SEC power schools (minus only LSU) and would have no expansion teams (i.e. all would be from the original 10 SEC schools before 1992).

I can hear my conversation with the other OU fans coming to the game:

"The Tennessee fans said to go to Gay Street before or after the game."

"Gay Street? Hmmm...and you believed them?"

I can't wait till you get back home, and when asked if you had a good time.. And you mention going to Gay street... Then trying to explain it.. ☺

I'm driving in from Oklahoma without tickets. How hard will it be to get some scalped tickets. How is the tailgating situation? I enjoyed the Vol fans who came to Norman last year and am looking forward to a great game.

Bring cash.. lots of it. Look on Stubhub for a sanity check.

Edit:
P.S. Hope you enjoy the game, regardless of the outcome and you leave with a favorable impression of the VOL faithful.:salute:

Thank you. I always worry about the trip but always find a ticket. The Big XII Championship Game against Nebraska at Jerry's World was the toughest ticket to get. I ended up with a standing only ticket, which was fine because I seldom sit anyway. I figure as many seats as Neyland Stadium has I shouldn't have a problem, but it is the home opener on ESPN and should be a great atmosphere.

Usually at the stadium right before kickoff you can get pretty good prices, but then again ive never seen nosebleed seats going fot 250+ apart.

Payback is going to be heck!!!
Take away about three plays from last years game nod it would have been a different story and season!

Probably the highest since '06 UF, '04 Auburn, or '04 UF.

And I was lucky enough as a 6th grader to go to the '04 Florida game for free. My dad got a call the morning of the game from a friend with two extra tickets and he took us. I was fired up from the total surprise.

That's a Christmas miracle like surprise.

Hey Owen,
What is OU's best non paying/signup message board?
If you have a sense of humor,Landthieves, dont come in talking trash if you're thin-skinned,there are a few who feel the need to jump on visitors and show the world their ass. Overall a decent group. The Rivals board is pretty solid as far as info and you stand less chance of confrontation from an infantile that hasnt learned their manners. Happy posting!
