Oklahoma and Texas have reached out to join the SEC (allegedly)

The biggest irony to this whole thing is that after ten boring years of hearing Texas A&M talk about how self-obsessed, egotistical, controlling, and whiny Texas and its fans were -- Texas A&M turns out to be the SAME EXACT damn thing.

Please give me examples that A&M is a carbon copy of Texas. Very few on this thread understand that Texas is a stage four cancer. Look at the conferences they've destroyed....SWC, the Big 12, and now the current Big 12. Look at the history of the LHN. Does that show any effort to work in conjunction with fellow conference members? Read the comments Deloss Dodds made when A&M exited the Big 12. Texas' desire to join the SEC is nothing more than a means to their end.

The SEC will rue the day they admitted Texas to the SEC.

If you want some idea of what Texas fans are like, visit surleyhorns. com, their fan website. They're already talking about how they're going to add class to a conference of rubes. As for gratitude and loyalty, to Texas fans, they don't exist. Just consider what they're doing to the likes of Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Kansas who put up with their bullsh*t for years. Now, they're treating them like used toilet paper. You just thought you hated LSU and Aubie fans. Just wait.
Ohio St
Texas
Noter damn
The absolute worst of college football and fans

Make Bama and Gator fans seem pleasant

Rue or not to rue. The folks in the SEC and the folks at Texas and Oklahoma all will make money. Lots of it. And the mess they leave will not be their problem but someone else's problem.

Michigan and Ohio State aren't coming to the SEC. The big ten is the only conference that made more in TV revenue than the SEC.

Listen to yourself. "They're a stage four cancer." "They destroy conferences." "A means to their end." Your paranoia is palpable. Is Texas full of inflated self-importance? Sure. I'm sure they pushed around the Big 12. I mean, come on. That's the same conference whose members basically whined and moaned and undertook legislative action to browbeat Texas into staying with them because they knew they were dead in the water without them. "You can't leave for the SEC! Not without all of us! You have to take us with you!" Gosh. Goodness. I can't imagine why Texas would push those schools around. I can't imagine what would compel them to seek other opportunities.

News flash, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, hell, even poor old Tennessee are not in the business of being pushed around. Do you think Texas A&M joined a conference with a bunch of pushovers? Are you somehow mistaking the SEC members for ... what ... Kansas? Or Iowa State? Or Texas Tech? The SEC is the conference that does the pushing. And if Aggies think these schools are going to get pushed around, well then buddy they must not think very much of the SEC. I just can't fathom this disconnect. Oh, sure, the SEC built the best college athletic conference in history, its schools have forged some of the best brands in college sports, but don't let TEXAS! Not bad old Texas, not them, they're too evil, they're too powerful, they'll cheat and destroy you too! Seriously, pick a lane. The SEC and its schools are either competent or incompetent.

Deep down, this isn't about Texas "destroying" anything. That isn't going to happen and you know it. The SEC is strong enough to accommodate Texas and Oklahoma.

No, this is about Bowen Loftin proclaiming in 2012 that A&M had become the dominant brand in Texas. It's about Texas-sized egos, something both school share in spades. It's about Texas A&M getting to use the SEC to best Texas, and Texas being relegated to second tier status. You've been able to dangle the SEC badge in front of Texas and its fans for a decade and exclaim "neener neener we're in the SEC and you're not." And it's been to your benefit. SEC membership has enriched you and your program. It has elevated A&M above Texas. But by God you will NOT share status with Texas, because then they would have it too.

And that's what this really is. Aggies thought they'd finally beaten Texas for good, finally "won" Texas, and now that they have to deal with the Longhorns again - "They're evil!" "Don't let them destroy you!" "They're a cancer!" All because of your rivalry with Texas.

Will Tennessee face Gray, Lawrence and Moriss during their careers at Oklahoma?

I know Oklahoma is on the schedule for 2024.

When Mississippi and Texas meet, they could play the Southern California fight song.

By adding TX and OU, what is the expectation that the SEC would break into 4 divisions rather than stay with two? If that did happen, it would seem that the regular season would have to be shortened to 11 games max. Because with four divisions it would require a two game play off., right? The conference champ (and the second place team) would end up having to play 13 games before you even get to the national play offs. Maybe if expansion is limited to just two more teams the SEC would stick with two divisions. Lots of balls in the air right now.

A double amen with hands in the air! It was interesting to hear the Austin sports writer Kirk Bohls refer to Texas' arrogance on Finebaum yesterday.

Oklahoma has hitched their wagon to Texas to gain entrance in to the SEC. My bet is that they will be an asset to the conference.

As I've said before, Texas does not play well with others. This is because Texas has the mindset to control everything. I'm sure that Texas will want Austin/DFW to become the new epicenter of the SEC. I'm sure Texas will attempt to bray about their greatness (sports, academics, endowment) as compared to the other members and they do have a lot to bray about....just not football at the moment. They will use their success as rationale for having an inequitable seat at the conference table. If Texas fails to gain the influence they think they so richly deserve, they will indeed cause trouble. Let's just hope the SEC brand can withstand the pain.

I have no brief for or against A&M. They have been an asset to the SEC since they came along. I can't blame them for being angry. I imagine UF would be raising hell if FSU showed up at the door. The same would be true for USC/Clemson or UGA/GT.

The good relations we have enjoyed with A&M will not be experienced over time with Texas. Texas is a different cat.....well maybe not cat but just that brown crusty thing found below a cat's tail.

So I'll go light a candle in the fervent hope that the Texas legislature manages to poison this deal and that in the turmoil that has arisen in the other conferences, Clemson decides to approach the SEC which in turn allows Oklahoma to have a bonafide partner for entry into the SEC .

This possibility is all about MONEY. The SEC leadership and media rights fees both benefit monetarily, but the kids are the ones who lose. They‘re going to have to play another game in the season. Thanks to the SEC and the media, the college game is on its way to become a professional sport! It’s time for the SEC and College Football to start thinking about the players!

One proposal I saw that you would play the other 3 teams in your pod and then two each from the other three pods. That’s 9 conference games. Winning your pod doesn’t guarantee you the conference championship game…it’s the best two. There would be tiebreakers. As is, sometimes the “champ” of one division isn’t even a national consideration. This is better.

Voltopia...I'm certainly not paranoid...I'm a realist. I suspect you've never lived in Texas. As such, you have no idea the b.s. Texas pulls. I would suggest you read Plano Vol's comments (I suspect he lives in Plano, TX given his handle). People that live in Texas understand the slimy backhanded stuff the Horns have done for years. What is sad is that the vast majority of folks in the SEC (who don't live in Texas), have no clue how bad this will turn out. I suspect Texas will play nice and say all the right stuff for a period of time. But their character, or lack thereof, hasn't changed...and it's been that way for a long, long time.

I'm really sorry that the Aggies, as the unquestioned paragon of virtue in this world, have had to deal with those lowdown, cheating scoundrels in Austin and all the terrible things they have done that have caused all of your problems... You know, SEC schools also complain about Bama and the other elites receiving special treatment, as happens in every conference, but y'all really take the cake when it comes to the absurd level of bitterness. You can stick to Texags, nobody here wants to join the pity party.

This is what needs to happen:
Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma state, and West Virginia join the sec.
Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma state to the west and west Virginia to the east.
Missouri moves from east to west.
Alabama and auburn move from west to east.
Sec west becomes the following:
LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Texas A@M, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma state, Arkansas.

Sec east becomes Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, West Virginia.

This is what needs to happen.

West Virginia could possibly move to the Atlantic Coast Conference according to 365 which covers the Big 12.
