I have been a nega about this hire, but today's playoff games and the recent surge in recruiting has me drinking the koolaid!! I think Pruitt and his staff will do great. I cant wait until September. WGWTFA!

I look forward to the best players being on the field regardless of classification. Junior or Senior

Maybe he'll have a 1st year in the SEC ,like a former high school coach, Gus Malzahn did with Auburn

If you'll recall Auburn was 3-9 overall, and SEC conf 0-8 in the year prior. Ring any bells?

While it won't be a monumental turnaround from last season to next season, I think it's safe to say that the Vols aren't stumbling around in the dark anymore like they were with Butch. Once the success of playing fundamental football has returned, and the win column starts looking better, there should be no problems landing elite talent to play for UT. Maybe not on the level of Bama or Georgia, but decent enough to compete in a short time. Long term, Tennessee will be competing for SEC championships and more if all goes well in the next year. Tennessee has never had a geographical advantage in recruiting, which makes hiring a coach who can actually coach even more essential to future success. Our rivals can do much with the level of in-state talent they have. They have to do more with more, while UT has to do more with less. CJP has a track record of success wherever he's been, just not as head coach. I say we give him a pass next season, as long as there is noticeable improvement. By year 3, we ought to know whether he was right for the job. A decent season this next fall will be crucial for the future in recruiting.

The state's with good recruits also have to compete with other state schools. South Carolina & Clemson. Florida Miami & Florida State. Alabama & Auburn.

Asst coaches and coordinators leave their alma maters all the time and some succeed elsewhere...we'll see.

But can't get my head around this logic of he's a POS Bammer, or similar statements that some fan'atics' are saying... what does that mean exactly? Does that make him not want to win as much at UT, or not want to do his best? Will he lay down and quit? Just trying to understand how that benefits him...I mean there's no evidence to remotely suggest that. I'm just confused with that type of logic in thinking.

I get the joke, 'he's a POS Bammer' type jokes...but from a logical human being, that's a foolish statement if meant literally.

Regardless who we hired, he'd be a POS "xxxxx" until he started winning. I was on board with Dooley then Butch before they deserved my support because they were the HFC. Not again.

**** Pruitt until he wins.

Coach Pruitt had what do exactly with UT's previous coaching hires?

And now Coach Pruitt is a POS?

Ummm ok, makes complete sense...think I'm buyin' what you're sellin.

He was wearing Bama colors last night. IDK about you but that's a huge sign of being a POS in my book.

Why should I think anything else about him? He has done jack squat for UT and it's ****ing embarrassing that our HFC is wearing our most hated rivals colors.

Win games and I'll jump on the train, until then piss on him.

I think players, who matter by the way, respect him for finishing what he started. All players respect that, because kids 'typically' lose or struggle historically after coaches leave early.

Look, I get where you are coming from, but we can pick corn out s*** all day long, but don't wanna go down that rabbit hole...but I think the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Let's be honest, Jeremy Pruitt's defense was utterly dominant against Clemson. It's a great selling point for UT recruits.

Look at what Pruitt's done already for UT. Him and his 'highly qualified' UT staff came out swingin with recruits, and there's more to come. He took about a $1 mill per year pay-cut in order to allocate capital to fund the best and most appropriate staff in college football.

Many many VFL players are voicing their enjoyment for what Pruitt's doing and has done, and can't wait for him to be in BOC full time soon to help support and get to know him. As a Tennessee fan, I feel pretty good about what my new head coach has accomplished today while balancing a pretty tricky dynamic. Speaks volumes to his time/work commitment.

Mark my word, they'll win, eventually. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Yeah I am on board too, to the point that I will now casually watch instead of religiously watch. Losses have stopped affecting me for a day or two after like they use to. From the fulmer era to now with us hiring a 3 or 4 losers in a row...I am casually on board, and I wont feel guilty at all jumping on the bandwagon if they get rolling but they are going to have to reel me and tons others just like me back in.

7 would be fine considering the brutal schedule. This 5 game run we have to go through in 2018 has to be tops in all of college football,IMHO. I'm including UF and USCjr as the bookend games and we get a week extra between UGA and Auburn. I'm hoping not to see us getting blown out of games. That's just not UT ball.

Now that we've got somebody who knows what he's doing in the AD, I hope Fulmer absolutely rips the SEC schedulers a new one. There's no reason schedules can't be evened out some. Essentially having played all the toughest games by mid Oct when the season runs through November is absurd.

That reasoning goes beyond being a Volunteer fan. You are not showing your support for your team or your team's Head Coach, you are just showing your own ignorance.

You can say he is or he isn’t, but one thing you can’t deny us that Coach Pruitt knows what a defense looks like and he called the defensive plays and they made C look like la tech!
Botch didn’t even know what players like are supposed to look like? Can CJP get those players to the Hill? He already is!

As long as he is wearing Bama gear he isn’t our head coach.

What the hell has this guy done to garner any support? What’s his record as HFC?

Have you seen the recruits lining up that he's brought over so far?

I mean, as opposed to the recruits that were de-committing as they were a few weeks ago?

And wasn't Shoop all that when we hired him. Just saying ... been there before. Time will tell.

Boy, aint it the truth. Shoop was @ as rock solid a hire as you could imagine. A slooow 2 year train wreck undid that. UM pi$$ed at their mega dollar slam dunk hire now.

After 3 garbage hires since 2008. I don't have the energy for the hype train any more. I'm hopeful as always. But definitely in the wait and see category.

I think he will do well too, but we have to give him a couple of years to get it all together. GO VOLS.

How many 4 and 5 stars has he flipped from Bama?

Get back to me when he wins some games.

Anyway, my point still stands. Clemson didn't have this year what they had the previous two

Yea, but all we heard for weeks was how weak this Bama team was, particularly the defense, compared to past Bama teams. It goes both ways. None of the experts gave Bama much of a chance. Do you really want to actively try to spin it in a way that is negative for UT? You act like Clemson hasnt been getting elite recruiting classes the past few years or something.

Clemson has been poaching a lot on our turf, and it's past time to put an end to it. Pruitt's work at Bama had to have tarnished the Clemson image for some prospects because a lot of them apparently believe winning is joining a winner rather than working for it.
