Okay, I'm officially onboard with Pruitt and his staff!

Let’s not get too carried away next year guys. It’s a rebuild year at minimum. 6-7 wins is the floor next year. If they win 8 I’ll be really blown away. As for rankings go I don’t think we see top 25 unless we were to start out like 5-0 and end up with a 9-3 record. 2018 will be a learning curve and 2019 will see much more improvement on both sides of the ball and hopefully by SEC East champs by 2020...

If he's anything like Kirby, this seems about right. I think we should win 7 next year

If you are not impressed with the defense of Bama, forget about it....Not only are the players spectacular, but they are disciplined (coached) to stay in their assigned defensive positions...

With coach Pruitt bringing in talent and teaching that talent how to play their position at the college level, things will be much better here in time.

Of course the negative posters will complain, like they always do.

Alabama's defense dominated tonight and Georgia's linebackers made huge tackles at critical moments in the game. It is awesome to know the guys coaching those units will be coaching the Vols. Add in the elite defensive recruits that are likely to sign this year and we have a lot to be excited about.
Our defense will look nothing like Gump's. Ya'll are delusional. 5 years from now... IF we win it might, but even then we ain't gonna recruit like Saban.

Just because a coach is a good coordinator doesn't imply he will be a good head coach.

Time will tell. This will be a staff of coaches pulled together that have never really worked with each other or worked with Pruitt as a HC.

Some of you are drinking the Fulmer and the Bama kool-aid. And you will be the first ones on board to fire the man if Tennessee tanks next year.

Thanks Butch...btw, what Kool-aid are you drinking?

Tim Tebow said it best. Tennessee is a sleeping giant. And Pruitt is the guy who will wake them up. Its gonna take a year or two, but the kind of recruits this coaching staff will bring is will get it done.
agreed. i think it will take a little patience this coming season, but by year 2/3 we could see a pretty big turnaround.

and i think we'll win a game or two next year that kinda lets you know.....

Shut up Butch, most of that staff has worked with at least pruitt or together.

Lets see what he can do with our 3 star talent, not 5 star horses.

I like Pruitt but he's inheriting mules, not stallions. Its gonna take time.

True, but I think they will play a lot of Juco's and True Freshman next year. Scheme will obviously change, and IMO have a positive impact on how successful we are next year. February signing day will be fun as well, as I think we steal a few.

I believe the Vols will be a pleasant surprise next year if the recruiting finishes strong as all indications are right now. As we've seen in some of the bowl games, freshmen can contribute a great deal with the proper coaching. I'm expecting seven wins next season and even better in 2019.

7 would be fine considering the brutal schedule. This 5 game run we have to go through in 2018 has to be tops in all of college football,IMHO. I'm including UF and USCjr as the bookend games and we get a week extra between UGA and Auburn. I'm hoping not to see us getting blown out of games. That's just not UT ball.

i think it's perfectly ok to be excited about what the future holds.

i do agree with those tempering expectations for 2018.

the roster is good, not deep. and probably not good enough to win the East or anything. the schedule is difficult as well. and it's year one of a new staff, installing new schemes etc...and it'll be most of this rosters' 3rd s&c coach in 3 years.

it's a lot to expect to all come together in a single off season and expect something "great".

go to a bowl, recruit your butt off for 2019, and develop the roster. take a 4-8 team to a bowl next year, and you could then see some opportunity for 2019 to be a break out year for TN....and if not, 2020 could be really exciting.

either way, if they can recruit like they look like they can, by year 3 we definitely could see that jump.

Next year's team has no chance of more than 7 wins. Six is really the ceiling, but maybe give room for a major upset. If that is the best they do, it is not a negative on these coaches. They have a lot to fix.

That is just wrong. We need to stop the loser mentality some are accepting.

6 wins is the floor. We could win 9. No way we win less than 6.

What a relief it is to know that our coach will now be referencing that national championship when he says "championship". And not a shared big east title, battle at bristol, or the Music City Bowl.

All of these accolades are great for new UT Coach and well deserved. Butt, we all know IF Bammer had been rung up by Clemson, multiple threads would be on here today about the bad hire, signs of things to come, etc. etc.

Here is what I know, Coach Pruitt is going to attempt to restore Structure, Discipline and TOUGHNESS to this program.......and that is a GREAT start back. :hi:

All of the above is true, but Bama didn't get rung up by Clemson and that makes it look even better for us and CJP. I hate to be pulling for either Bama or the Dawgs to win. Do you think we could hope for a tie? :):p

Not one good thing happened for Tennessee, football wise, yesterday. Our coach helped our most bitter rival and our program stagnates on the back burner for another week.

I'm glad you are excited but cjp played a Clemson offense that lost their qb, wr, and rb. Last year when Clemson wasn't so young offensively they torched bama through the air. The year before they torched bama through the air.

I see your excitement, but Pruitt didn't have to deal with the same Clemson offense as last year.

Anyway, i still hope he can bring an Alabama type defense to UT. I hope he can get the run game chugging like smart and saban too

Pruitt coached against the Clemson team that had the QB, WR and RB they have had all season. A season that qualified them for the playoffs. I’m sure he would have loved to have his beast linebackers like Reuben Foster from previous seasons, or even the linebackers he had at the beginning of this season! He coached a beat down of a team that was determined to be one of the best four in the nation. He doesn’t get disqualified because Clemson didn’t get that waiver for unlimited eligibility.

We now lead for several top prospects. We should have always stagnated like this.
