Okay, does anybody actually think we beat Oklahoma (poll within)?

Do you believe the Vols will beat Oklahoma this Saturday?

If the stars are properly aligned, we can beat anybody.

I agree. However, if I say they will, I fear they will lay an egg. So I am going to say we are gonna get knocked silly. The Vols have always LOVED to make a liar outta me.

As cocky as their fan base is towards the Vols (claim Tulsa and La Tech would be favored over UT) add that to our fan base's defeatist attitude and I hope and pray for a Vol victory. It makes me sick to see so many Vol fans so sure of defeat to a team that historically lays at least one egg a year, usually multiple. It also sickens me to visit opponents message boards only to see supposed Vol fans posting, telling them how badly they will beat our Vols, damn! Get some ****ing pride, these sooners are worse than Bammers!!!GO VOLS BI-CH SLAP THOSE BROKEBACK COW PUNCHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vols 38 - chOKIES 14

There is just no realistic way this team beats Oklahoma at Oklahoma. It would take a miracle of Biblical proportions !!!

You live in fantasyland. I bet you are one of those stupid UT fans calling the Finebaum show predicting we win at least 10 games or even make the playoff this year.

I don't like this poll. I think we can beat them, but if I was betting I'd put money on OU. However, I think we play them closer than Arky St. played us.

Ok, I was present at the '82 Alabama game. TN then had no chance. TN was at home. This has been posted before I know, but the point is anything is possible.

Possible win = yes
Probable win = no
I do not think TN will get blown out like some think. I think you will see a competitive TN team at least.

I really think we have a great chance of going into norman and shocking the country ! Oklahoma will be overlooking us expecting to blow us out and make a statement. They will be in for a fight. Our young players are hungry and will not be phased by the atmosphere and national spotlight.

Back off the ledge people. It's like the only game people remember from them was the Alabama contest (admittedly impressive).

This team lost to an AWFUL Texas squad 36-20 and got blown out at Baylor 41-12. They suffered from inconsistent/poor QB play through long stretches of the year.

I'm not saying Tennessee is my pick to win, and Oklahoma IS a great team. But it is not just impossible for the Vols to go there and make something special happen! This loser mentality needs to leave Knoxville and never come back. GO VOLS!!!

With the experience we have on both lines, if we stay within 2 TDs of Oklahoma, Butch should be a shoe in for coach of the year. Their QB won't have to have a good game. Their running game and a modest passing game will be enough to wear us down with our depth. It's not loser mentality. It's just reality. Seriously, if we came out of there with a win, I fully expect to go 11-1.

That and the SugarVols should remind everyone that bigger upsets have happened. Sugar Vols were in the 80s and this OU team as well as it's press is very similar to what we walked into in that game. Miami was just there to collect the W and they'd have had the Natty. They gave us no respect - wouldn't even shake our captians hands at the beginning of the game. A funny thing happened that game though. We took control, never looked back and beat them senseless. Final Tenn 35-7 over the U.

Then in the 90s we had the Miracle At South Bend which was another opponent on its way to a Natty (just like with Miami so much talent was on that ND team it was unreal - we were supposed to be a formality) and yet after getting down 31-0 and ND preparing to kick a field goal a sign of life - missed kick was run back for a TD. We went into the half time 31-7 ND. The game was turned off by fans of both teams convinced it was over, only after halftime it was all Vols. One of the greatest comebacks in CFB history was waged and finally ended when ND missed a FG that would've given them victory. Final Tenn 35 ND 34.

Neither of those Tennessee teams were as talented as their opponents on paper, Miami and ND were absolutely loaded and would rival any historically loaded team in talent, but the Vols were the better team on the field those games and came away with epic wins. We're due for another one of these great games and while it may not happen this game and yes, we could totally get blown out of the water, we can also pull off the upset.

Checked yesterday and they have a total of 11 returning starters this year. 7 on offense 4 on defense. I'm not a crystal ball predictor and I can't tell you if it means anything but, if the real depth didn't get exposed by the warmup games it may be we do. GBO! :good!::good!:

No realistic way Seattle can beat the greatest offense the NFL has ever seen by 35 points. Oh wait.

No realistic way Arizona could wax Oregon last year. Oh wait.

Bout what we are
I am continually impressed by how smart coach jones is. he is playing just about everyone right now. He says what he means and means what he says...but not in the ways most people take it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he knew USU was not as good as EasSPN stated and didn't start he's best O line. Just keep telling everyone we can't win...it helps us at this point.

I have been highly sceptical and vocal about our offensive scheme.. After watching all the offensive highlights many times I think you are right. Most everyone could be wrong about our offense. In both games we would score quickly, quick slants, screens and hard runs up the middle and no one could stop it. Then bore everyone to death with the read option, and barely move the ball. One side says the players aren't good enuff to run our offense, the other side says we should drop the read option because of the slow developing plays. What if they were practicing the slants, bubble screens, and quick hitches and making everyone think we were practicing the read option because we can't run the ball... I hope so... I would love to have been wrong these two weeks. Guess we will see

I'm hoping we can give the sooners a competitive game. I certainly won't blame butch and the coaching staff if they do get blown out because they weren't the ones responsible for firing fulmer, which is the main reason the program has been in such a mess. We keep fulmer and this is a game between two top five teams with Tennessee in serious consideration for a playoff spot. Hopefully fans won't throw butch under the bus like they did fulmer. Butch has proven himself to be a great coach and very good recruiter. It will be a good feeling when we get that Tennessee of old back again

Butch has proven to be a great recruiter and a very detail oriented coach who has yet to win an actually really big game here. he has 4 chances to do that this season starting against oklahoma. usc was a nice win last year but let's be honest it's not a fla or bama or top 5 upset we need one or 2 of these this year to get really rolling to win it in all in 2016 including the battle at bristol.
