This whole debate is starting to p@#$ me off. At this point, whoever we hire is going to tick some of you off. The problem begins with Saban at Alabama and the accompanying splash that hire made in the college football world. He was a winner, they stuck with him and got him to commit. Of course, Mal Moore's knees may have been sore, but look at the program 2 years later.

My point is this... Cohwer... (not going to happen); Gruden (No Chucky for Ktown); Davis (Staying in NC) There is NO big NAME in this mix and I feel like we might be in danger of just settling.

I'm not a big Brewster fan but I like his philosophy on special teams. If you go to the Gopher's website they have his entire philosophy on there, it's not bad.

All we can do is hope for the best!! The Pearl hire appears to be one of the greatest hires ever. Lets hope the same for Fball!!

Successful where?

He was post OC Norm Chow at USC and had a 3000 yd passer, a 1000 receiver, and two 1000 yd rushers in 2005. BUT, of course, he inherited what he was dealt. He was a good recruiter for USC. The only HC experience was with Al Davis. So, he's relatively inexperienced as a HC, but he was one in the NFL (terrible team, though) and he got to coach a bunch of great players in college. It's too hard to tell on him. Can he match wits/talent with other SEC coaches wits/talents? They're all a gamble.

We were talking about HC experience, so explain again where he had success. You probably hit on something though, he might be a great OC for next year.

I guess Mark Richt and Bob Stoops had a lot of HC experience when they were hired at their current jobs, and they turned out pretty good from the best of my knowledge.:D

Guys, girls relax Kiffin is on the 18th shhhhhhhh. He is about to announce his lack of interest in UT because no one wants to be the man to replace the man, simple as that. Ask anyone who knows ball, and they will tell you. Thats why BAMA took so long, nobody wants to clean-up. We need to start a "Revive Reccitate" chant and clear the stands of "bag heads" before we talk coaches or recruits. The Nation has the power to sway the crowd! Win the people, win the war. Meaning stop nega-posts, start talking about all we have to offer and how anyone would be an idiot not to takethis job!

Amazing.

Look at what he did while at USC and the fact that an NFL team was willing to give him a shot at the age of 33.

He'd bring an amazing coaching staff and would be a great recruiter.

You or I could recruite at USC, I want a winner. Be it OC or HC. Preferably HC, that and the fact Al Davis is idiot says volumes.

Al Davis has traded or fired two Super Bowl winning coaches.

I'll take my chances with Kiffin over a Peterson, Muschamp, or Leach.

I don't understand it either. Texas ranks 60th in total defense. If your gonna look at a defensive coordinator, check out Nick Holt at USC.

Hey genius. Isn't this Muschamps FIRST year with Texas. How much of a difference do you think he could make in 1 year? He has proven he's a great DC and he will be at Texas given time. I don't think he's HC material for UT but i would take him over Nick Holt any day. USC has their pick for top talent every year. They SHOULD always have a top defense no matter who their DC is. By the way they did a great job against Oregon State.

Ok so now we have a good bet that Gruden, Davis and possibly Kiffin not coming to TN, Im going to go out on a limb and say Brian Kelly or Mike Leach are the more realistic choises we have left with the possibility of muschamp. Who knows.

I'd like Leach the most, but I think it's just a fantasy. We could throw alot of money at him, but so could his school.

Brian Kelly seems too easy. I'd give him a shot, but Tennessee isn't a "give you a shot in the SEC" type of school.

Muschamp is my choice. Seems an easy pick, this guy can get it done defensively. Everywhere he's been his defense has been great, and we all know how much we love our defense here. He's a fiery coach and I'm real sure he could attract a stellar offensive mind.

GTown Vol:

Please get off of the crack pipe and come back to the real world. Muschamp's defense has been horrific this year. I don't care how good TT offense is. UT wants no part of a def coordinator as a head coach who gives up 600 yards to anyone!!!
