What a wonderful post. This brings out our fond memories. I remember the cannon in the N. end zone (it sort of pre-dates Rocky Top). We had a blast. We didn't win em all, but we had a lot of fun, flunking out to Algebra 3! When pulling IBM cards, no one told me you need to take Algebra 1 & 2 first. After Dickey, then Battle & watching Condredge- what a treat! Big Orange Forever!! Thanks for this post

As much lambasting as Dickey takes for his throwing the Gator Bowl and leaving Tennessee from Florida, he did some good things. Rebuilt the program. Put the power T on the helmets. Checker boarded the endzone. And, got with the band to for the T to run out through.

My first game was the Vols v. Chattanooga in Sept 1964. A nail bitter with UT winning 10-6. Days of Emanuel, Kiner, Neumoff and Reynolds on D and Warren, Richmond Flowers, Curt Watson, Bob Johnson and Chip Kell.
