I found this on youtube and I know we have some Pride members on here. This is what I remember the pre-game being about. A little something to pick us up in the off-season.

Man, that brings back great memories. I also miss the Tennessee Walking Horse trotting around the field.

I started going to Tennessee football games in 1946, but I never got to the games early enough to see the pregame stuff. My parents had season tickets starting in 1933 and my brothers attended UT after they fought in WWII. I have seen some really good times and some bad times but have always supported Tennessee sports and always will. One tends to love the place and I am proud of my almost 70 years of watching Tennessee sports.

Love seeing this! Looks like was Aikman's UCLA, the disappointing tie, with thumping of Bo's #1 Tigers coming up next...still one of best games I've ever been to. Know everything made for TV today, but first game of the year, you'd figure we could paint the UT and lines on the field. I'd forgotten how barren the end zones look w/o checkerboard.

Man....I feel old. 1985 is the good old days?

My first game was 1965 vs Auburn. Even back then I was in awe of Neyland stadium and the T. Of course the entry point back then was different and IMO, far more special.

Brings back memories seeing the old field. I like the new field better, but that's what it looked like when I was a student.

Great memories. I graduated the June prior to the 85 season, but that is how they did it from 81-84.

New tag: "Vol Emeritus"

Your brothers fought so that we can all be free to be Vol fans. I am forever grateful and honor those sacrifices. My grandfather fought in France, Luxembourg, & Germany.

My sincere thanks for you sharing your story. So much said in such few words.

Great video! I'm sure I was there. Probably PP Row 15!

I went to several games that season and sat in PP as well.

Does anyone remember the FG challenge they did at halftime that season? It was a 40 yard try. IIRC, the only guy to make it was wearing cowboy boots. It was either the Rutgers or Ole Miss game.

VOLINVONORE, seventy years. Now that is a Vol fan! Pup here, celebrating 50 years of attending games at Neyland in 2017. I remember the first time I saw the POTSB in person. Gave me chills. Still does.
