OK...real thoughts..who can we beat

UTM 99%
Oregon 25%
Florida 20%
UAB 97%
LSU 35%
Georgia 40%
Alabama 12%
South Carolina 45%
Memphis 97%
Mississippi 60%
Vanderbilt 90%
Kentucky 85%

Completely made up win chances for us. I say 7-5, but always hope for more of course.

I like your analytical approach, and I mainly agree with you, with these adjustments.

LSU 40%
UGA 45%
Ole Piss 65%

:salute:

Hopefully we don't see 2-5 entering home vs. USC. The fanbase [majority] would be unbearable, and maybe rightfully so.

UT will be 2-5 and going on the road to USC. I know the koolaid tastes good. I know many think freshman QBs, and WRs are going to step on campus and light people up. I know people think the OL and DL will just get coached up and be fine. The reality is UT will be 2-5 heading to Columbia. Put down the koolaid.

the title of the thread was "ok....real thoughts.....who can we beat".

i responded to a post by someone who said that they didn't understand why people think florida is an automatic loss.

i gave some details as to why. i know those details don't sit well with tennessee nation right now, but they were factual.

one day, florida will be down and tennessee will be up, and i will say something different.

but, until that day comes, one has to take into account the here and the now.

you gave details of the past, how is that factual as to how florida will for 100 percent certain beat UT next year? it isn't, you don't know. there are no factual predictions, quite frankly because they haven't happened yet. You can't call something a fact that hasn't happened yet unless it manifests itself in the physical world, i.e. the wind will blow, and the sun will rise. my point is, the guy made a valid observation, florida should not be considered an automatic loss.

Is Oregon a sure loss? How many starters do they have coming back? I know they lose their QB.

no, they don't lose their qb. which is the only reason that people are calling it as a probable loss. however, i did here a rumor that he and a teammate got into some trouble, any news on that anyone?

WR-Denarious Moore=senior
TE-Luke Stocker=senior
WR-Marsalis Teague=sophomore

Yeah, we might be 2-5 next year heading to columbia, but no need to simply pull stuff out of your ass to back it up.

6-6 (or 7-5).

9/4 UT Martin - Win.
9/11 Oregon - Loss. More talent and experience.
9/18 Florida - Loss. Not sure we ever beat them again.
9/25 UAB - Win. Should out-talent them.
10/2 @LSU - Loss. Upset alert - you always have a shot when Les Miles is opposing coach.
10/9 @Georgia - Loss. Payback for last year's whippin'. Plus, the "Dooley effect".
10/23 Alabama - Loss. Only game that I would give UT virtually no chance.
10/30 @South Carolina - toss-up. Verdict still out on USCjr.
11/6 @Memphis - Win. More talent. Probably be more orange in LB than blue.
11/13 Mississippi - Win. They are going to be way down without Snead & McCluster.
11/20 @Vanderbilt - Win. We seem to always find a way.
11/27 Kentucky - Win. See Vandy above.

I'll throw in my 2 cents, and scores to show confidence/emphasis on final outcome, not as exact prediction.

Martin- WIN [27-7]
Oregon-LOSS [28-14]
UF-LOSS [21-14]
UAB-WIN [17-13]
at LSU-LOSS [17-6]
at UGA-LOSS [21-20]
Bama-LOSS [17-14]
at USC-WIN [14-10]
at Memphis-WIN [31-14]
Ole Miss- LOSS [17-7]
at Vandy-WIN [20-14]
UK- WIN [14-13]

If this were my March Madness bracket, you would say I went "all chalk". I could sit and dream up scenarios of how we could beat UGA/MISS or lose to USC/UK. I think we are an expected 5-6 going into UK game @ Neyland, and we will ourself to victory and a bowl.

I really hope we pull out the UGA or MISS, but OL and QB are major concerns. Also two words: Dexter McCluster.

Hopefully we don't see 2-5 entering home vs. USC. The fanbase [majority] would be unbearable, and maybe rightfully so.

Most of all, Im excited for NSD and spring ball. Give this coaching staff time, and the players your support, heart, and passion of UT football. It's goint to be a wild ride in 2010!

Don't we have to win 7 games because I don't think Martin counts towards bowl eligibilty? Not sure because UT has never played a team from the lower subdivision. If so, then we should have just scheduled another Western KY to get an easy win that would count towards bowl eligibilty.

You get to count one win against a championship subdivision opponent.

Sorry. I guess Oregon already changed their players class because it said that Masoli was a senior. I hate when people get on here and don't have their facts. Guess I better get mine next time.

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Loss
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Loss
10/9 @Georgia Win
10/23 Alabama Loss
10/30 @South Carolina Loss
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Loss
11/20 @Vanderbilt Win
11/27 Kentucky Win

6-6 and go to Nashville for Music City

regardless of how our recruiting class winds down, i'd say 7-5, with a bowl apperance, and possible a win, would be a successful 1st yr. for DD. Kinda' funny, never would have thought that a 7-5 season would be successful at Tennessee. How the mighty have fallen. Back to the point, in reality 4-8. Here's the breakdown.

Martin- WIN
Oregon-LOSS
UF-LOSS
UAB-WIN
at LSU-LOSS
at UGA-LOSS
Bama-LOSS
at USC-Loss
at Memphis-WIN
Ole Miss- LOSS
at Vandy-WIN
UK- Loss

And at the end of the season.... I'll be at Neyland Stadium and listen to the .... 90,000 fans :bad: :bad: :bad: DD. I hope that isn't how it turns out but, Kiffen really laid it to us.

Anyone who thinks LSU is a loss is not paying attention---5-6 guys are gone from starting D unit. 2 OL 1 WR 3 RB all gone. Scott was there saving grace on O and he is gone. They will have one LB returning. I know they have some talent to fill these spots but not like UF or Bama at this point. We should beat them at home.

Ole Miss is a win as well...DM is gone as is much of their Oline.

Oregon, UF, and Bama are the only games I see that are going to be very hard to win...all up hill. If Oregon's QB is out we have hope.

USClite is a tough one but about even. UGA is about even considering their coaching handicap plus they lost a bunch on D. Senior LB core coming back though.

There is no way we should lose to Ole Miss or LSU or Kentucky or Vandy. 7-5 to 9-3 is where we should be. If we go 5-7 without massive injuries Dooley has failed.

9-3? With another first year head coach with a worse staff and tougher schedule than the last one? You think we should beat LSU in Baton Rouge with the talent on our team right now?

Very tough schedule. Lot of talent lost to graduation or whatever. IMO TN will be hard-pressed to go 7-5 and could easily be 5-7 or 4-8. Hopefully the Vol faithful won't judge Dooley on next season's outcome.

9-3? With another first year head coach with a worse staff and tougher schedule than the last one? You think we should beat LSU in Baton Rouge with the talent on our team right now?

Absolutely we should beat them in Baton Rouge. They have a joke of a coach and are replacing a lot on D. There super talented WRs are irrelevant since they have no way to get it to them consistently. There offense relies on super talented RBs and Big OL. All the guys who saw the field last year at RB are gone. It will be Allen, Ford or Gore. Two second year guys or a freshmen. They also are breaking in a new D. And who is going to coach them up? So far that is not how is works at LSU. The players learn on the field. It is Fulmer ball but worse down in LSU...being in LA they will always have some talent which will keep Miles around for a long time.

I said 7-5 to 9-3. I do not expect 9-3 but it is possible. 7-5 would be a job well done. If Dooley goes 5-7 or 4-8 he should be canned. If he lets his coordinators do there job this should not happen.

I can tell you right now that we won't go 9-3. 7-5 is probably our ceiling. LSU has an idiot coach but they also have much more talent and speed than we do...

Hey it is cool if you disagree...but have you watched them play? There speed a WR is irrelevant they cannot get it to wide open WRs. There QB situation is bad. They were deadly when Scott was healthy...well he is gone as are the two other RBs who got most of the carries with Scott. Other RBs could not get it done since Miles just releases them to play on talent.

They lost 5 starters on D including Chad Jones. They lost 4 others from there 2 deep. Again at LSU the players get better from being on the field...like it was under Fulmer they are rarely coached up. I call this game a win. JMO.

you are right about what others are losing, but not factoring in what we lost. We lose a qb who played quite well the majority of the season. We lose 4 out of 5 of oline. We lose a rb who had one of the best seasons in tenn history. We lose Rico, our best lb. We lose d Williams who became a dominant player for us at a position that is very thin. And we lost our all American safety. Our recruiting compared to lsu has been abysmal, so they should be able to replace their losses better than us. I don't think much of the hat as a game coach, but there is no way you can say we should win that game, especially if it is away as mentioned earlier. We are taking a step back in talent next year. Could we win this game? Sure it's not a given we will lose, but we are not the favorite there. Their are four we should win. Four I'd call toss ups or at least close to even and four losses. 6-6 is a good coaching job. Anything above takes some breaks and or great coaching.
