OK...real thoughts..who can we beat

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Loss
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Toss up...
10/9 @Georgia Win
10/23 Alabama Loss
10/30 @South Carolina Win
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Toss up...
11/20 @Vanderbilt Win
11/27 Kentucky Win

Obviously it's difficult to really know since were working with a new HC...but based on talent alone, I think we should be able to pull of 6 wins easily...there's definitely potential for 8 wins....:machgun:

Here's the way I see the schedule broken into groups:

Lay up/Should definitely win:

Tenn Martin
UAB
Memphis
Vandy

Toss up:

KY
Ole Miss

Need Help/Luck:

SC
UGA

Need a Miracle :

Oregon

Forget About It:

FLA
LSU
Bama

We could be 4-8 on the low. The best we can even hope for is 8-4 if we get very lucky but realistically we should consider 6-6 and a bowl a serious plus.

I agree 6-6would be getting some brakes and a good coaching job. I'm looking at what I just wrote and I can't believe I just said that, but I think it's true. Horrid......

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Loss
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Loss
10/9 @Georgia Loss
10/23 Alabama Loss
10/30 @South Carolina Loss (payback for last year black jersey game)
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Toss up
11/20 @Vanderbilt Toss up
11/27 Kentucky Toss up

5 to 6 wins given our inexperience on the OL and lack of stars in the secondary. No Rogan, Berry for sure and perhaps JJ if he decides to transfer to USC or gets in trouble.

Crazy Sir. Do you even like TN? My future looks more like this...

9/11 Oregon Loss (We never fair well agianst the PAC but it is at home so we will see...)
9/18 Florida Toss-up (losing a lot of plyrs and a coach)
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Toss-up (Ppl will be shocked after our 1-2 start)
10/9 @Georgia Win
10/23 Alabama Loss (close game again)
10/30 @South Carolina Win (Because they are a bunch of cocks)
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Win (no Jevan or McCluster)
11/20 @Vanderbilt Win (Why not)
11/27 Kentucky Win (it's in Knoxville, Seriously?)

7-5 or 8-4. maybe better, maybe worse depending on how the chips fall.

I would say the OL though not very experienced won't be as bad as a lot of ppl like to think. QB play will be marginal depending on the starter. I hope Stephens has had some time to get his crap together. Our WR's are strong with G Jones and Moore. Our RB's will be stellar Brown, Poole and Williams, Mostly Poole I think will be fenominal next year. Great TE in Stocker. Our D is still strong despite the losses of McCoy and Berry. Jackson will still be here, Myles Jr, Ben Martin, N. Reviz will be back in full swing. H. Lathers. Im less worried then I was last year when we should have went 8-5 by all accounts at least.

way too early too tell but i think that we will be better for sure. We have unknowns on OL but if we finish well in recruiting we will be much more talented than the sullins twins on the Oline. We just have a tougher schedule but Tennessee never goes through a season without beating someone that they should not beat. Mississippi will not be very good, vandy and Kentucky are who they always are. Memphis and Martin and UAB are wins. We play well against Georgia, LSU, and South Carolina so those are not for sure losses.

It seems to me that we will be facing some fretty inexperienced QBs in some of these games. If our defense takes to the 3-4 that it seems we're bringing in we can put some SERIOUS pressure on them and get them rattled and we can get some big breaks with QB misques and limiting our own.

UTM 99%
Oregon 25%
Florida 20%
UAB 97%
LSU 35%
Georgia 40%
Alabama 12%
South Carolina 45%
Memphis 97%
Mississippi 60%
Vanderbilt 90%
Kentucky 85%

Completely made up win chances for us. I say 7-5, but always hope for more of course.

It doesn't have the type of personnel for a coach to come in and immediately switch to a 3-4. 3-4 requires a stud nt, which we don't have. That's the main reason Monte didn't run Tampa 2 much last year, because it requires monsters in the middle as well. A 3-4 also requires much bigger lbs that what tn has traditionally recruited. 230-240 vs. Our current 210-220. Look at Alabama, saban didn't switch immediately, he couldn't, but last year he did and their lbs were in that 230-240 range, almost small ends. Put our light lbs behind three lineman and watch everyone light us up. 3-4 is a good defense, just like the 4-3, as long as you have the proper personnel. We don't right now.

I think Coach DD will have LSU's number. I say 8, but I'm an eternal optimist.

I definitely think getting to 8 will be tough. But it's really hard to say right now. I have no idea what our O-Line will look like, and we can't know what to expect from the QB. The schedule is crazy. We play 8 games in the state of TN in 3 different cities, and the only time we play outside the state is in the month of October. Weird.

A respectable 7-5 and another bowl game.

I think we will have 5 easy wins (UT-Martin, UAB, Memphis, Vandy, Kentucky), 2 close wins (S.Carolina, Ole Miss), 3 close losses (Florida, Georgia, Alabama), and 2 bad losses (Oregon, LSU).

I don't think we'll go 3-9 like some are projecting.

7-5 yes, 8-4 maybe. I'd be incredibly happy with 8-4.

I wouldn't count us out of the LSU game at all. Maybe not even the Oregon game.

I've been on the forums for about a year and just now made my account. But this is my thinking regarding next year... I bolded everyone I think we will beat.

UTM - Should be a blowout
Oregon - I think there is a chance we pull the upset because Oregon came out flat last year against Boise in their first game.
Florida - I think we lose this one.
UAB - Another blowout.
LSU - If Dooley can lose by 8 to LSU with La Tech talent what do you think he can do with Tennessee talent? I think we win this one.
Georgia - I think we will beat either Georgia or USC but not both.
Alabama - Loss, they just have too much talent and depth.
South Carolina - See Georgia.
Memphis - Should be an easy win.
Mississippi - Win. No Snead, No Dexter. I think we win. All of Orgeron's recruits are graduating or leaving for the draft.
Vanderbilt - Win.
Kentucky - Win.

So I guess 8-4 or 7-5.

Everyone but Florida, Alabama, and LSU. Georgia is probably a stretch.
7-5 would be a nice coaching start.

Did Akron drop us? I'm pretty sure UT has never played a DIAA team. I would hate to play UT-Martin.

We play UT Martin, UAB, Memphis, Kentucky, and Vandy. We destroyed Georgia and Carolina last year, and I don't see either of them being any better. We get Ole Miss at home this year, without McCluster. I think 10' will be another 7-5 type of season.

Joe Cox and Renny Curran are gone so UGA automatically gets better.

UT-Martin -W
UAB - W
Memphis - W
Vanderbilt -W
Kentucky, USC, Ole Piss - should be competitive

I predict 5-7.

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Loss
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Loss

I think we'll be a 7/8 win team with Ole Miss being a toss up, to slight lean for UT since its at home. We'll be bowling I'm sure.

FL will be a battle of inexperienced against inexperienced. It will be a good game and a freshman qb in OUR stadium. Also, if Crompton had not been so horrible until the end of the Auburn game we would have killed UCLA, beat Auburn and honestly I think we would have beat FL. We got lucky against Al. But we should have beat Ole Miss. Monte's d didn't look that great that day, now did it? I think next yeaqr will be better than we think and Oregon lost to OHio state bad, so that game is a toss up. We'll see but I say roughly same record at the end of the year or better.

UF won't be starting a freshman qb and OUR stadium isn't that loud. The blue hairs spend more time complaining at people for standing than anything.

why is everyone so sure that UF will beat us? I know they've got the #1 class coming in, but they are loosing a TON of important players. Their qb will not have that much time to get adjusted to the big stage before we play them in the 3rd game. I know N.Stephens is a toss-up. If he comes out playing so-so, with GJ and DM still there, that should make his job a little easier. Not to mention some of the talented WRs coming in. UF's newbies will not be up to full speed by the 3rd game. They MIGHT beat us. But i'm not as sure about a loss, at home, to a UF team that has no superman now. It will be close, and the big orange, IMO, has a helluva shot at pulling this one off!
