Ok it's Official: Best 8-4 Team in Murica

Win lose or draw, I'm a VFL. You are bandwagon.

You are a VFL, SpaceCoast. Absolutely.

But don't go too hard on Wylo. My jokes about him being a Gator sleeper agent to the contrary, he's actually a good Vols fan. He's just a very pessimistic and judgmental one. He's one of the Eeyores among us. That's his only fault, not any lack of love of the Vols.

We just gotta teach him that it's ok to buy into a head coach, to invest some faith in one, they aren't always all gonna be fly-by-night Kiffins or program-destroyer Dooleys.

Hopefully Butch will teach him (and a lot of other head-shy Vols fans) that positive lesson in the next year or two. :good!:

Best 8-4 team this year? Probably. Nobody was upset about that statement.

But the fact you're bragging about 4 losses says plenty about your loser mentality.

Yay for us. We are an awesome team. Only 4 losses away from mattering.

Way to go. You have again found a way to cast negative vibes on a team which won more games since 2007 and finished the season with 5 straight wins, lead Alabama until the lack of depth on the defense cost them the game, did not lose a game by more than a touchdown and played mostly first and second year players. I began watching Tennessee football in 1946 and I am as proud of this teams accomplishments as any since then. I also am looking forward to the 2016 team which I believe will win at least 10 games.

I would phrase it slightly differently. I would say, "Butch hasn't yet shown he can beat the biggest competition."

And that may be the single major philosophical difference between you and me, Wylo. You've already condemned the man forever, while I still look forward to seeing where he takes us once he has all the pieces in place.

We agree he's not perfect (none of us are). But I believe we've yet to see his best, while you think he has peaked.

Time will tell which of us has the right of is. :hi:

Only thing wrong with this post is the fact you have already put him there. Your blind optimism is noted.

Just win a bowl game against a respectable opponent. The OU and the UF games were low points in this season. Blame it on coaching, players, bad calls. Doesn't matter at this point. Just win and get to the offseason with a lot of momentum for next year.

Should be the best Tennessee team in some time, deeper, faster, actual upper classmen that contribute.. UF will NEED to fix their offense. UGA will have a new coach and new system, QB. SC looks to be hiring Muschump, so you can go ahead and write them off. East is there for the taking.

You hang your entire outlook on the word "hopefully".

This thread is Vandy like in mentality. I'm not upset. Program is on track. Next year the bar goes to 10 wins. The 2018 team is the one that should win the SEC title.

Some people have a problem of moving on. They prefer to linger in the past.

No, actually I haven't. Having an open mind about a person's potential is not the same as crowning a person king. There's actually a very big difference between the two.

As for 'blind' optimism, there's really nothing blind about it. It's just optimism. Nothing wrong with optimism, unless you're a pessimist. Then it's kinda like kryptonite.

You hang your entire outlook on the word "hopefully".

Yes. Hope is a fan's prerogative. You have hope next year will be even better. You have hope the star player can get a medical red shirt. You have hope the coaching staff learns and improves.

Why would you not?

MFL, you may not have noticed, but Vandy didn't win 8 games this year. They didn't even win 6.

Agreed that our future is bright.

It's one of the best teams but one of the worst coaches. Literally, no other program in America has interest in Butch yet hart gives him a raise and extension.

you are truly stupid in fact if brains where dynamite you wouldn't have enough to blow your nose.

A positive attitude is better than your whining crybaby attitude any day. Time to just put you on ignore so i don't have to read your negative crap anymore.

Doesn't work. People keep quoting him. :cray:

This is foolish. You don't become one of the best teams with "one of the worst coaches." They're one of the best teams because the guy at the helm is doing his job.

If he was doing his job, Tennessee wouldn't be the best 4 loss team in the history of earth... He's doing part of his job, recruiting.

Recruiting...

and Developing...

and Managing (there's a lot of management involved in a college football program)...

and Representing...

and Selling...

and--though you are very hesitant to admit it--Coaching....

and--though you're even more hesitant to admit this--Strategizing.

He's a proven great coach, a top tier coach, in about 5 or 6 of the 7 or 8 major categories you could grade a college coach on. He MIGHT be great in those other 1 or 2 ways as well. We'll know for sure in the next year or two.

Folks who forget the 75% and then ALSO go all pessimistic on the remaining 25%, well that's just foolish.

Thank you sir for that. I get spun into orbit by Monday morning coaches. Thanks for talking me down.

Then stop watchingg until they hire a real coach.

I know right? I really don't get the constant negativity. Those games are over, we can't get them back. Might as well enjoy the fact that we finished the way we did considering what we've been through the past 7 years or so. Besides, I feel we were a little overhyped preseason while a team like Florida was under hyped.

I think what he is saying talent can overcome some teams but coaching beats the good to great teams. Hence coaching is the difference why we are celebrating being just 17 points away from undefeated.

17 points away from being undefeated.

What exactly does that mean? If that's true, and it technically is, I could counter with a handful of points vs SCar and Georgia that could've gone the other way, 12 to be exact, that would've left us at 6-6. I see the improved talent on the roster and the improved play on the field. But that stat of how many points we were from 12-0 is a hollow one. Just really doesn't mean much of anything.
